POV: Your neuroscience class has evolved beyond slides 🧠⚡
This week, our AHS students got hands-on exposure to Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) technology and explored how brain signals can be translated into real-world applications.
Special thanks to Ms. Christy Li (g.tec Medical Engineering GmbH), who flew in from Hong Kong, and Mr. Kelvin Wong (UTE Sdn Bhd) for bringing industry and clinical neurotechnology directly into Taylor’s University.
The future of neuroscience?
Yeah, we already got a sneak peek 👀

International Collaboration in Sports Nutrition Education
Taylor’s University had the privilege of participating in an international guest lecture hosted by Eastern Mediterranean University (Cyprus), bringing together students and academics from across borders to exchange knowledge and perspectives in health and nutrition.
Guest Lecture Topic:
Sports Nutrition Education: Fuelling Performance & Behaviour Change
Delivered by Dr. Chan Kai Sze from the School of Biosciences, the session explored the role of sports nutrition education in supporting athletic performance and promoting sustainable behaviour change.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to AP Prof. Ceren Gezer and the students of Eastern Mediterranean University for hosting this enriching guest lecture. Opportunities like these highlight the importance of global collaboration in higher education, allowing students to learn from diverse perspectives while fostering international connections.

🔬 Every healthcare breakthrough begins with a question—and research helps us find the answer.
This International Clinical Trials Day, we celebrate the role of scientific research in transforming ideas into evidence-based healthcare solutions that improve lives.
From understanding disease mechanisms to developing safer diagnostics, targeted therapies, interventions, and future health innovations, clinical research is the bridge between discovery and real-world impact.
At Applied Health Sciences, the future of healthcare depends on curious minds, critical thinking, and strong scientific foundations. Through our interdisciplinary education in genetics, neuroscience, nutrition, embryology, and applied health research, students develop the knowledge and research skills needed to help bridge the gap between laboratory discovery and meaningful healthcare advancement.
Because innovation is not just about finding answers—it starts with asking the right questions. 💡
🍫 Happy 520: Can chocolate really make us “fall in love ❤️”? Let’s look at the science.
That comforting, mood-lifting feeling after a bite of chocolate may be more than just imagination—it’s a fascinating interaction between nutrition, neuroscience, and human behaviour.
Chocolate contains naturally occurring compounds that may influence brain function, including:
🧠 Phenylethylamine (PEA) – associated with excitement and emotional arousal
💬 Serotonin-related compounds & tryptophan – linked to mood regulation and emotional well-being
Together with chocolate’s taste, aroma, and texture, these factors may stimulate the brain’s reward pathways, creating feelings of pleasure, comfort, and emotional connection.
But here’s where research matters:
Understanding how food interacts with the brain helps researchers uncover how nutrition may influence mood, behaviour, and overall health. At Applied Health Sciences (AHS), research drives our exploration of the connection between nutrition, neuroscience, and human health, helping shape future discoveries in health science and innovation.
Because every bite can inspire a scientific question. ✨
