Introducing this week’s FET Researcher of the Week, Dr Tan Kim Han, whose expertise lies in nanotechnology, advanced materials, and sustainable energy and environmental solutions.

A key highlight of his research is the development of low-cost MXene composites from recycled materials, enabling sustainable water purification and enhanced energy storage performance for real-world applications.

Through his innovative approach of transforming recycled materials into advanced functional systems, Dr Tan is bridging the gap between laboratory research and industrial application, contributing to sustainable energy solutions, clean water technologies, and a circular economy.

Congratulations to Dr Teoh Yun Xin on being awarded the Professional Growth Fellowship Grant 2026.

Through this fellowship, she will undertake the Postgraduate Certificate in Disability Studies, Rights and Inclusion offered by the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. The fellowship will support her professional development in disability rights, inclusion, and bioethics, while contributing to a project that explores ethical approaches to advancing disability inclusion, social justice, and equitable participation for persons with disabilities in Malaysia and across Southeast Asia.

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) successfully held its first Town Hall Meeting of 2026, bringing together faculty members for a meaningful session of updates, engagement, and shared aspirations for the year ahead.

The Town Hall commenced with an address by the faculty Dean, Prof. Ir. Denny Ng Kok Sum, who reflected on the faculty’s recent achievements and faculty updates. The session also featured updates from our Deputy Deans and management team, providing insights into ongoing initiatives, academic developments, research advancements, and future opportunities for growth.

The gathering served as a valuable platform to strengthen communication, foster collaboration, and reaffirm FET’s collective commitment to excellence in education, research, innovation, and industry engagement. Here's to another year of progress, innovation, and impactful achievements together!

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Sunway University, is proud to share that Professor Mayeen Uddin Khandaker from the Applied Physics and Radiation Technologies Group from Centre for CO2 Capture and Utilization, has achieved a significant scholarly milestone, with his Scopus profile recording over 800 publications, more than 20,000 citations, and an h-index of 65.

This achievement reflects his sustained commitment to high-impact research, academic leadership, and global scientific collaboration. It also highlights Sunway University’s strong research culture and its growing contribution to advancing knowledge, innovation, and societal impact.
