Congratulations to our Computing students, who were named 2nd Runner-Up at the Test Design Competition (TDC) 2.0 2026, held as part of SOFTEC Asia 2026, the region's leading software quality assurance conference.

Competing as Team Young & Broke, the team demonstrated exceptional talent, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to secure their place among a strong field of more than ten university teams:

• Dylan Yeo Jin Yi (Bachelor of Software Engineering (Hons))
• Sean Dhirren Jeremiah (Bachelor of Software Engineering (Hons))
• Kelvin Kan Chuan Jie (Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Information Technology)

Guided and supervised by Ms Foo Jinny, the team took on a demanding challenge. As the flagship university competition organised by the Malaysian Software Testing Board (MSTB), TDC 2.0 required students to work on a real, production system with minimal documentation, integrating requirements engineering, automation testing, and a DevOps mindset. Participants were tasked with analysing an unfamiliar system, developing and executing automated tests using industry tools, and defending their decisions before a panel of experienced practitioners.

What makes this achievement even more significant is the calibre of the platform on which they competed. MSTB is Malaysia's national member of the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB), the globally recognised body for software testing certification. By competing at this level, Louis, Wen Pin, Dylan, Sean, and Kelvin demonstrated their capabilities against international standards and distinguished themselves admirably. They also had the opportunity to attend the SOFTEC Asia Conference, gaining valuable insights from global experts shaping the future of software testing and quality assurance.

This achievement reflects not only the students' technical competencies and perseverance but also the quality of education and industry-relevant training provided by the programme.

Congratulations to Dr Hadyan Hafizh for successfully securing funding under the 𝐄𝐔-𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐠𝐞 - 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞 (𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐏𝐄-𝐇𝐄).

Sunway University secured a 𝐄𝐔𝐑 𝟏𝟖𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 for the TRANSFORM-ASEAN (Transforming TVET Capacity through Quadruple Helix Collaboration and Digital Skills Platform in ASEAN) under the EU–ASEAN Sustainable Connectivity Package – Higher Education Programme (SCOPE-HE).

Led by Dr Hadyan Hafizh, the project will strengthen TVET digital transformation across ASEAN through an AI-enabled Digital TVET Platform, industry-aligned micro-credentials, and regional capacity-building initiatives. SCOPE-HE is funded by the European Union and implemented by Nuffic in partnership with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), supporting stronger education, research, skills development, and people-to-people connectivity between ASEAN and the European Union regions.

Congratulations to Assoc. Prof. Dr Elaine Chan Wan Ling and team on securing the 𝐈𝐇𝐇 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐛𝐨𝐱 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞.

BreaAI, an AI-assisted digital pathology solution for breast cancer assessment, has been awarded the IHH Innovation Sandbox Grant. This Phase 2 project, in collaboration with Premier Integrated Labs (PIL), brings together clinical expertise and the artificial intelligence and computational pathology expertise of Assoc. Prof. Dr Elaine Chan from Sunway University. BreaAI uses AI-driven image analysis to support more objective and consistent Nottingham Histologic Grading, improve diagnostic efficiency, reduce assessment variability, and advance AI-enabled precision diagnostics into clinical practice.

Please join us in congratulating Koay Yun Sheng (Bachelor of Mechatronic Engineering (Robotics) with Honours) and his team on Winning Champion at the Monash University's Think Beyond The Prompt: AI x Human Business Challenge 2026.

The competition challenged participants to solve a business case under tight time constraints. Teams were first given 45 minutes to develop a solution without the use of AI, followed by 35 minutes to stress-test, refine, and enhance their ideas using AI tools.

Koay and his teammates successfully advanced to the final stage as one of the top eight shortlisted teams, where they presented their solution before a panel of judges. Following the final presentation and judging round, the team was announced as the Champion of the competition.

The winning team comprised students from different universities and academic backgrounds:
Koay Yun Sheng – Sunway University, Mechatronic Engineering
Ng Wei Xiang – Taylor’s University, Chemical Engineering
Eason Too – Sunway College, ICAEW

This achievement reflects not only the team's strong analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills, but also their ability to effectively leverage both human creativity and artificial intelligence in addressing real-world business challenges.
