It's amazing to see how everyone's wau turned out to be so uniquely and differently even though I provided the sama stencils for the lesson. This is what I always like to achieve in my lesson.

虽然我提供给学生的型版都是一样的，但大家画出来色马来风筝，各个独树一格，这是我一路坚持与所爱的教学风格。

今年是第二次参加有南方大学所主办的一年一度国际妇女节画展，跟去年有点不一样的是，今年很荣幸受邀在开幕日当天带一堂艺术讲座，跟现场的艺术家们与来宾们分享我从事了12年的艺术工作 — 日本和谐粉彩 Pastel Nagomi Art.

I have designed a new series for International Pastel Art Comprehensive Class 2026 - - The Beauty of Insects, teaching students to paint mesmerizing art using simple techniques of Flower of Crystal Art.

“Wau Kenyalang”（犀鸟风筝）是源自婆罗洲砂拉越原住民社区的马来西亚传统风筝。它以犀鸟命名——这种雄伟的鸟类在当地民间传说中具有深厚的文化象征意义。该风筝体现了团结与庆典的精神，常在节庆、婚礼及重要文化活动中放飞，象征着祝福、繁荣与和谐。

当我第一次见到这款风筝时，便被其浓厚的传统文化气息与独特的美所吸引，也深深触动于其所承载的象征意义。这启发我在创作中以结晶之花艺术的技法来结合本土元素，来呈现大马多元而丰盛的文化遗产。

这幅作品将会在柔佛南方大学文物与艺术馆展出，与其他40位女性艺术家一起以画作表现大马这个多元民族和文化的瑰丽与和谐。这周六上午我也会在那儿带领一场粉彩体验工作坊，彩绘马来月风筝。无需绘画基础，欢迎成人大众、艺术爱好者及初学者参与，一起体验手指的创造力。

“Wau Kenyalang" is a traditional Malaysian kite that originates from the indigenous communities of Sarawak, Borneo. It's named after the hornbills, majestic birds that hold deep cultural significance in the local folklore. The kite embodies the spirit of unity and celebration and is often flown during festivals, weddings, and other important cultural events. It also symbolises blessings, prosperity and harmony.

When I first saw the kite, I was captivated by its traditional, cultural and aesthetic appeal, as well as its symbolic significance. This inspired me to incorporate elements of the Flower of Crystal Art into my artwork that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the Malaysian community.

This artwork will be exhibited at the Southern UC Museum & Art Gallery (JB), alongside 40 other female artists, presenting, through paintings, the richness and harmony of Malaysia’s diverse cultures and communities.

This Saturday morning, I will also be there to lead a Pastel Art experience workshop, where we will paint the Malaysian Wau Bulan. No prior drawing experience is required — adults, art lovers, and beginners are all welcome to join and explore the creativity of using your fingers.

“Wau Bulan”（月风筝）是马来西亚的传统风筝之一，以其精美的设计著称，常融入自然与植物的优雅纹样。风筝尾部呈新月形，这也正是其名称的由来。它象征着马来文化中不可或缺的一部分。
这幅创作以我所熟悉的日本结晶之花艺术的元素融入在地风格，向马来西亚同胞以及本地丰富的文化遗产致以致敬。

“Wau Bulan", the national kite of Malaysia, is a beautifully designed kite that often features stunning patterns seen in nature and plants. The tail of the kite is shaped like a crescent, explaining its name. It represents an integral part of the Malay culture.
