What is BPA : A synthetic chemical used in plastics, food containers, and thermal paper receipts
Added to replace BPA after BPA raised health concerns
Very stable → breaks down slowly and can stay longer in the body and environment
What is BPF (Bisphenol F)? Another BPA substitute
Commonly found in epoxy resins, food packaging, coatings, and plastics
Chemically very close to BPA
Why are BPS & BPF a concern?
Even though they are not BPA, research shows they can act in similar harmful ways:
🔁 Hormone (endocrine) disruptors – can mimic estrogen
🧠 May affect brain development & behavior
🧬 Linked to metabolic and reproductive effects
🧒 Concerning for fetuses and children, whose systems are still developing
In short: “BPA-free” does not always mean “bisphenol-free.”
