We are delighted to share a proud moment for the Master of Clinical Psychology programme!
In 2025, we started working together with The Special Children Society of Ampang (SCSOA), a centre that supports children and teens with different developmental needs. This collaboration began through the initiative of one of our trainee clinical psychologists, Justin Leo Dorairaj, a great example of how our students can make a real difference.
Since then, our trainees have been visiting the centre every week through our HEART Psychological Services mobile clinic. They get to learn hands-on, while also supporting the children and families at the centre.
For us, this is what itโs all about โ learning beyond the classroom, giving back to the community, and growing into psychologists who truly care.

SOCIAL media and the Internet are the main sources teenagers turn to for s*xual and reproductive health education, say experts.
Taylorโs University Master of Clinical Psychology programme director Dr Lim Hooi Shan said Malaysiaโs high access rates to online s*xual exploitation materials fuel an environment of grooming and manip**ation.
She added that this is made worse by social media platforms that promote revealing and highly s*xualised content as a trend, often through subscription-based content cultures, which can lead teenagers to develop a distorted self-impression of being more mature than they are.
โIt is important to understand that teenagersโ limbic system, which is responsible for emotions and immediate rewards, matures much earlier than the prefrontal cortex, which is responsible for impulse control and long-term consequences,โ she said.

โSexual and reproductive health education (SRHE) in Malaysia remains a taboo topic due to conservative thinking and the belief that teaching it encourages premarital s*x.
โWhen it is not delivered through official platforms, it appears under the โhidden curriculumโ, where discussions occur in informal settings such as bathrooms, online chat groups and school corridors,โ says Taylorโs University Master of Clinical Psychology programme director Dr Lim Hooi Shan.
