๐ฎ What surprises do the staccatos and accents of this piece bring to mind for you?
๐ Every piece has a story to tell... ๐โ๏ธ A message from the composer: Sneaky Surprise is inspired by a childhood game I used to play. Imagine trying to jump-scare your friend, or, in my case, usually my brother. The soft, staccato โsneakyโ motif at the beginning is like tiptoeing and testing out different ways to give him an unexpected surprise โ Boo! But of course, the fun doesnโt stop there. When I succeeded, my brother would always chase after me for revenge. The second part of the piece depicts this chase, using polyphony, sequences and chromaticism to create tension and drama, just like nearly getting caught before finally escaping. The โsneakyโ motif returns in the final section, as I try to sneak up once more โฆ but this time, my brother is ready. I get caught!
