On 31st March 2026, CRISD collaborated with SCEEST to organize a webinar featuring Ts. Dr. Kalidasan Balasubramanian, who presented recent developments and applications of nanomaterial enhanced next generation phase change materials for thermal energy storage. The session aimed to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and was particularly relevant to researchers and students interested in applying nanotechnology within Thermal Engineering and Chemical Engineering. The webinar attracted more than 60 participants, including researchers, students, and academicians. Overall, the event was not only providing deep technical insights but also stimulating interactive discussions and laying the groundwork for future collaborative research initiatives.

On 10 March 2026, the CRISD and i-CRISD committees held a Strategic Discussion Meeting with Mr. Donny Tan, General Manager of Business Development (Convention), Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak), and Ts. Dr. Gary Loh Chee Wyai, Director of the Centre for International Relations (CIR), UTS. The meeting explored grant and collaboration opportunities for the i-CRISD conference 2027. Committee members who attended were Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Ling Jen Hua, Dr. Qurratu Aini bt Sirat, Dr. Tiong Meng Chung, and Keren anak John.

On 20 Nov 2025, CRISD held a discussion with Dr Ng Sing Muk and Mr Kiu Miin Fung from Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) on potential collaboration under the SEB Powering Ideas Programme, an initiative that funds research supporting the utility sector. UTS and CRISD were represented by the Deputy Dean, Ts. Dr. Samat bin Iderus, Head of Programme (Electrical Engineering), Ts. Nuramalina binti Bohari, Head of Programme (Food Technology), Ts. CRISD successfully organized the International Symposium on Recent Innovation for Sustainable Development 2025 (RISD25) on 18–19 Nov 2025, in collaboration with the Centre for Continuing Education and Professional Development, JKR Sarawak, and the Institution of Engineers Malaysia Sarawak Branch. Nine distinguished keynote speakers from Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei, representing academia, the public sector, and industry, were invited to exchange ideas and share experiences on sustainable development.

On 12 August 2025, UTS staff, including CRISD Director Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Ling Jen Hua and Food Technology lecturers Ts. Koh Chen Chung and Ts. Dr. Nurhayatie binti Sajali, met with Mr. Daniel Tiong from HopWell to explore potential collaboration in research and the commercialisation of innovative food products. This meeting marks a significant step toward bridging academic expertise with industry innovation.
