GOTS pre-primary: A joyful start to learning
At Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) International School, we believe every child deserves a joyful and inspiring start to their learning journey.
The award-winning Shah Alam-based school's Pre-Primary Programme is designed to nurture young learners in a safe, stimulating and focused environment that combines thematic learning with creative, play-based experiences.
What sets GOTS International School apart is its team of highly qualified educators, including Head of Pre-primary Pushpa Devi Subramaniam, a registered trainer in early childhood education with the Malaysian Welfare Department.
Learning extends beyond the classroom. Through carefully planned activities, thematic units and projects, children develop strong literacy and numeracy skills while building confidence in communication, musical expression and creativity.
The school also places strong emphasis on social and emotional development, helping children strengthen their gross and fine motor skills in a supportive environment.
Its signature Funky Tots programme introduces a creative and innovative approach to extra-curricular activities, encouraging children to explore, imagine and express themselves freely.
Activities include arts and crafts, dance, speech and drama, boot camp, music and sand play, creating exciting opportunities for children to discover their talents and interests.
The school's multilingual environment gives equal importance to English, Bahasa Melayu and Mandarin, helping children build confidence in communication from an early age.

New generation of student ambassadors takes shape at GOTS International School
Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) International School will welcome its new cohort of Student Ambassadors later this month.
Ahead of their installation on May 19, the prospective ambassadors joined their seniors for a team-building camp at Dusun Bonda last month, continuing a longstanding school tradition.
The experience marks a key transition as the new ambassadors prepare to replace seven outgoing ambassadors who will leave after completing their International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations at the end of the year.
Designed to ease this transition, the Ambassador Camp emphasised mentorship, character development, resilience and collaboration.
The new ambassadors were guided by their seniors, gaining insight into their roles while being encouraged to step beyond their comfort zones.
Through shared challenges and group activities, they learned the importance of perseverance, trust and mutual support – qualities essential to their roles as ambassadors.
In addition to physically engaging team-based activities, the students also took part in creative tasks at the main hall of the secondary campus.
At GOTS International School, the Student Ambassador programme plays a key role in nurturing well-rounded individuals who embody leadership, responsibility and global awareness.
The camp reflects the school’s commitment to holistic education – extending beyond academics to develop character and interpersonal skills, while ensuring continuity in student leadership.

GOTS players impress national selectors at youth flag football tournament
Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) International School achieved a major milestone as one of its two flag football teams finished runner-up in a national youth tournament last weekend, with several players identified as having the potential to represent Malaysia.
Phantoms, led by Muhamad Ryan Bin Muhamad Zairulnizam, secured second place behind Sentinels in the third annual Third Down Youth Competition at the International School of Kuala Lumpur. Team members include Hoi Wern Xuen, Anushka Ronald Rajesh, Kaydence Lo Jing Xuan, Abraham Yeo Jiu Liang, and Chua Ying En.
The Titans comprised Nicole Alena Raj, Isabel Yap Zhi Ling, Goh Wan Mun, Ivan Lim Ka Vern, Jake Lim Qi Hao, and Tinetrra Mark.
Following the Third Down Youth Competition, several GOTS players signed up for the national youth flag football team trials over the next two months, where they will undergo a selection process for a chance to represent Malaysia at the IFAF Asia-Oceania Youth Flag Football Championship in October.
Muhammad Haziq Abdul Hamid, director of the Youth National Team Programme, said: “We recognise the unique confidence and understanding of the sport that several GOTS players possess after their performance.
“They already have the foundation, and we believe that through the training we provide, we can polish them into national players.”
Flag football was introduced at the school in early 2023 and has grown in popularity among students. Interest in the sport increased further after the International Olympic Committee announced on Oct 16, 2023, that flag football would be included in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United States.

Heuristic-based curriculum at GOTS International School helps shape independent thinkers
Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) International School’s secondary programme offers a heuristic-based curriculum that emphasises active and creative teaching methods alongside the Cambridge syllabus.
A heuristic-based curriculum develops scholars’ competencies in research, analysis, evaluation, reflection, collaboration, problem-solving, communication, handling criticism, persuasion, adaptability, and time management – all of which are highly sought-after soft skills in the job market.
What sets us apart from our competitors is our team of teachers, whom we call coaches, who are certified in NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) for academics by the American Board of Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
Our unconventional coaching methods incorporate play into learning while cultivating skills in listening, speaking, music, and the arts.
Another advantage of our curriculum is that English, Mandarin, and Bahasa Melayu are compulsory passing subjects.
We begin these lessons at pre-primary level, meaning our scholars develop a strong grasp of three important languages, giving them a head start should they decide to sit for all three papers in their International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations.
