🎉 WHAT AN ELECTRIC DAY AT THE SELANGOR AI HACKATHON!

Hosted at Selangor Human Resource Development Centre (SHRDC), the Selangor AI Hackathon—an official Selangor State Government (SUK) initiative in strategic partnership with SHRDC—was a resounding success

Out of over 80 registering companies, 30 qualified teams made the final cut, with participants traveling from as far as Penang to build real-world AI solutions for Selangor.

Event Highlights:
• The Morning Sprint: Teams spent the first half of the day tackling state datasets across key civic data themes: Trash, Trees, Roads, Lamps, Natural Disasters, and Animals.
• The Shortlist: By lunchtime, the top 10 companies were announced to move forward.
• The Pitch & Q&A: The second half of the day featured high-stakes presentations and dynamic Q&A sessions judged by senior representatives from SUK, SHRDC, Dell Technologies, MIMOS, and MTDC.

The energy and positive vibes in the room were unmatched! A big shoutout to the SHRDC team for keeping everyone well taken care of from start to finish.

🏆 What’s Next? By the end of the day, our winners were officially decided—but the results remain top secret! 🤫 The winning teams haven't been informed just yet. The top 3 champions will be revealed live on stage—at the Selangor VVIP Dinner on 9 September 2026 alongside the Selangor AI Forum.

A huge thank you to SUK, our judges, and all 30 teams for an incredible showcase of innovation!

Tech Thursday at SHRDC ⚙️📊T

How do you turn a traditional machine into a smart, connected system?

The Utilities Monitoring System (UMS) Training Kit gives learners hands-on experience in upgrading legacy equipment into an Industrial IoT system. Instead of only learning through slides, participants wire hardware, collect live machine data and build dashboards that turn raw signals into useful insights.

Through the kit, participants learn how to:

* Connect industrial sensors, controllers and safety devices.
* Retrieve live temperature data through Modbus communication.
* Monitor energy usage and calculate related CO₂ emissions.
* Track machine status, health and critical alerts.
* Create real-time dashboards for faster, data-driven decisions.

At SHRDC, this training bridges the gap between hardware and software—giving engineers the practical confidence to retrofit existing machines and apply IIoT solutions in their own factories.

Learn the connection. Read the data. Build the insight.

Would you use a system like this to monitor your factory equipment? Share your thoughts or explore SHRDC’s Industrial IoT training programmes.

Being a great technical expert is one thing. Leading a team of technical experts is a completely different game.

Many high-performing engineers, specialists, and project drivers excel at delivering results through their own technical mastery. But when stepped into a leadership role, relying solely on subject expertise often leads to micromanagement, bottlenecked decision-making, and team misalignment.

Transitioning from executing technical work to driving people and project outcomes requires a total mindset shift.

This 𝟕–𝟖 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, SHRDC is hosting 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞, a practical 2-day masterclass led by Hee Hong T. —an experienced Operational Transformation Leader with over 20 years of hands-on industry experience.

- 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬: Define clear decision boundaries and empower team ownership.
- 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: Master structured 1-to-1s and resolve project alignment gaps early.

𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 #𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲!

What is the biggest misconception about Business Intelligence tools?

Here is what Mr. Shaathesh Muniandy shared:

"The biggest misconception is thinking a BI tool is just about having a pretty, visual dashboard on the surface."

The Reality:
A pretty dashboard means nothing without a strong foundation. A truly effective dashboard requires three things:

1.Clean, hygienic data at the core.

2.Meaningful relationships built between the data points.

3.An accurate story that drives real action.

What matters more to your team: how a dashboard looks, or the story it tells? Drop your thoughts below! 👇
