Changing the world, one musical note at a time

We live in a musical and rhythmic world, surrounded by sounds, patterns, and movements.

Music plays a crucial role in our lives – from our first lullaby to birthday parties.

Children respond to music from an early age. We recognise this at Kindie World Premier.

To encourage the love of music, we incorporate elements of song and dance in our music lessons.

Why do we do this?

Music helps children develop:

+ self-expression and creativity

+ gain an aesthetic sense

+ facilitates physical and rhythmic development

+ promotes vocal and language development

+ encourages cognitive development and abstract thought

+ teaches social and group skills

Music lessons also provide our children with the opportunity to hear and listen to songs from different cultures and ethnic groups.

As children have different preferences and interests, we play songs in different styles. We also sing familiar songs in a higher, or lower pitch, speed it up, or slow it down.

By mixing it up, we grab their attention. The kids will slowly learn the differences in pitch and tempo.

Most importantly, we teach music by getting our teachers involved. They set the example by learning the music and songs by heart to show the children that it is something they can do, too.

For the younger children, it is more about differentiating the sounds and noise.

Once they reach an appropriate age, we introduce musical instruments into the lessons.

The key is to teach them the notes, tempo, and how to count the beats.

Physical activities crucial to a child’s development

Physical activities, be it running, dancing or playing in the playpen, is part of the growing process.

Studies have shown that physical activities increase children’s flexibility, range of motion, strength, stamina and dexterity.

It also allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination by using their cognitive thinking and emotional strength.

Physical activities develop healthy brains as children engage and interact with the world around them.

But before we begin any activities at Kindie World Premier, we set the ground rules.

Firstly, we create a safe environment for children and teachers to move around.

Secondly, all activities are age appropriate to ensure that every child can perform the task handed to them.

We also separate the children into manageable groups to allow each teacher to keep a better eye on the students and help them follow the rules.

Where applicable, we prepare any instruments in advance and place them next to us. This way, there would be minimal interruption once the activities begin.

At Kindie World, we incorporate fun in all our lessons via song and dance, so the students are always active.

We also increase the intensity during our physical education periods.

Our timetable is also structured to ensure they have plenty of fun while learning.

Children have boundless energy and having them expand some of it via physical activities is a great teaching tool.

Kindie World – Going the extra mile to develop young minds

When asked what traits they look for in a kindergarten teacher, most parents choose those who are knowledgeable, energetic, patient, understanding, and passionate about the job.

After all, a pre-school teacher interacts with impressionable children, who can be a handful at times.

Mathematics; it’s more than just 1, 2, 3

Mathematics is more than just counting 1, 2, 3.

We use it in everyday life, to count and measure when we play games and sports, in art, to prepare food, play music, dance, sew, do gardening, and much more.

Also known as the science of numbers, Mathematics is a subject children must understand from an early age.

To ensure your children get a head start on Mathematics, Kindie World Premier begins teaching it to kids as young as four.

We believe quality early childhood education helps children reach their full potential in all areas of life.

It also helps them develop self-esteem and provides them with experiences from which knowledge is derived.

To make it fun, we first teach them the right way to draw the shapes of the numbers.

For example, instead of drawing the number eight with two circles on top of each other, children should be taught to write the right way.

That is, to draw the letter S and then connect the ends from top to bottom.

From there, children will know how to write the proper sequence of numbers.

We also make Mathematics fun and interactive by holding quizzes.

By doing so, we grab the students’ attention and dispel the notion that Mathematics is boring.

It can get noisy at times, as the children try to grab the attention of our teachers by yelling out the answers. But, that is all right, as teaching, and learning, must be fun.

Teaching English the fun way, the Kindie World way

Allowing children to express themselves helps them get a better grasp of languages.

That is why, at Kindie World Premier, we set aside 30 minutes at the start of each day to have bonding time between teachers and students.

During that time, the children sing and dance. Not only does this get them active and excited, it also helps with their memory and pronunciation of the lyrics.

It is a fun way to introduce new English words.

By giving them the space and time to “have fun”, we encourage them to improve their communication abilities and boost their social skills. It also enhances their listening ability.

This way, the children find it easier to identify new words, or remember those we have taught.

English, being among the most widely spoken languages in the world, is used during story time and our activity-based lessons.

Children are encouraged to tell stories and to use ‘props’ – items they find around the classroom – while doing so.

It also helps stimulate their imagination.

Another way of promoting the use of English is through the sharing of riddles and rhymes.

Kindie World opens up a whole new world of potential for your children

Are you looking for a kindergarten that offers a comprehensive lesson plan for your children?

Kindie World offers play-based learning in a conducive and safe environment.

Bahasa Melayu, English, and Mandarin are important languages children need to master.

It is easier to teach young children a new language as they are able to pick up quite fast.

Play-based learning helps children as it enhances their education, social, and cognitive skills. It is also therapeutic as it gives the children the space to express themselves.

Kindie World also teaches fundamental lessons and skills at this critical stage in a child’s development by exposing them to mathematics and science.
