5-Day Siemens Industrial IoT Training at UTHM Johor

The 5-Day Siemens Industrial IoT Training conducted at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), Johor, provided participants with a focused and practical introduction to key components of industrial digitalization. This hands-on training centered around the use of Siemens technologies, particularly the SIMATIC S7-1200 PLC and the Siemens IOT2040 gateway.

Participants learned how to set up and program PLCs, configure the Siemens IOT2040 for edge connectivity, and enable seamless data transfer from shop floor devices to cloud platforms. The training also covered fundamental concepts in Industrial IoT, such as data collection, communication protocols (e.g., MQTT, REST APIs), and basic cloud integration for real-time monitoring and analysis.

This initiative was aimed at bridging the gap between operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT), equipping attendees with practical skills to support Industry 4.0 transformation within academic and industrial environments. The collaboration between UTHM and Siemens showcases a shared commitment to upskilling Malaysia’s future-ready talent in smart manufacturing technologies.
