I’m not trying to knock the west for the sake of it. It’s just that Islamic art soared to heights of mathematical sophistication and abstract calm at a time when the very appeal of European creations tended to lie in their savagery. The Sutton Hoo helmet is a glaring totem of primal power. By contrast, the first thing you see in the new Islamic gallery is a fresco portrait and a well-preserved carved wooden panelling from Samarra in Iraq. Dating from the ninth and 10th centuries respectively, they bear witness to a rich urban civilisation.

Two new rooms at the museum present an alternative history of the world, beginning with works with a geometric sophistication and abstract calm that western art could not achieve for another 10 centuries

Let the children see Islam in you .

Ramadaan is an ideal month to live and practise Islam easily . Let the children love Islam from a very young age by seeing you practise it . Involve them in all 'ibaadah , however small they may be.

Let them see Islam....

In their parents , the way they treat each other,
In your dealing with the less privileged,
In your treatment with your parents and relatives,
In your charity work , however small it may be,
In your behaviour and mannerisms,
In your talk, language and attitude towards others ,
And above all in your relationship with Allah Azzawajal and His Book
Your love for the Prophet ﷺ and his Sunnah .

Remember, Islam can only be taught at madaaris but practice starts from home .

Let this Ramadaan bring that change in the homes of all those who would love to meet their Creator .

Let the children of this 'Ummah feel blessed by practicing Islam in its true spirit. Let them see True Islam in you .
