Progress of project waterproofing using TPO Membrane for RC room covering internal prayer hall of Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Shah Alam.

Project under supervision of JKR Daerah Petaling and awarded main-contractor Iman Puri Sdn Bhd. This is our second engagement as specialist contractor with Iman Puri after Masjid Tunku Mizan Zainal Abidin Putrajaya for structural strengthening.

Waterproofing initially was specified using Polyurea, however due to project kick-off during monsoon season, this system impossible to carry in order to ensure the performance of end result and workability. Polyurea and most coating very sensitive with moisture content of substrate which mostly require less then 4-5% moisture content.

Failure to comply will result in blistering, bubbling and delamination of polyurea. There is possible way to reduce this risk if still intend to use Polyurea, but client have to spend another cost for extra moisture barrier or another epoxy primer with quartz sand or powder compound to make it thick.

Based on study raining recorded higher from September 2022 until middle toward end of January 2023. We cannot leave the site idle while waiting rain to stop to ensure lower moisture content, rather than counter propose with TPO.

This system still allow moisture to pass thru and breathing and at same time the thickness of waterproofing is consistent compared to liquid applied.

Bottom line, applicator must be able to explain from technical point of view with safeguard the client interest and also long-term business relationship with end user and client.

Waterproofing of Concrete flat roof and GFRC joint using Sika Sarnafil S327 (1.5mm) at Masjid Ar-Raudah U10, Puncak Alam, Shah Alam.

Urgently need to be waterproofed and using PVC membrane able to speed up with consistent thickness and not issue with substrate high moisture level, more effective compared to normal liquid applied waterproofing coating and also much better compared to Polyurea (premium high-end product, system can be defective due to substrate high moisture content)
