The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (KMP) was honored to collaborate with the Deputy Dean’s Office (Graduate Studies & International), Faculty of Engineering in organizing the GradConnect@ENG 2/2026 program themed "Write. Refine. Publish."

The seminar was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azmah Hanim Mohamed Ariff, who shared valuable insights, practical tips, and key strategies for producing high-quality academic writing, with a special focus on book chapter preparation.

This initiative provided significant benefits to postgraduate students of the Faculty of Engineering, strengthening their academic writing skills and deepening their understanding of the publication process.

James Dyson Award 2026 Briefing at ThinkerSpace 2.0 UPM

The session, hosted by the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (KMP), Faculty of Engineering UPM, was delivered by two representatives from Dyson, Ms. Manyi Ho, the South East Asia Manager of James Dyson Foundation and Mr. Taufik Kasim, the Senior Design Engineer of Dyson.

Attended by Final Year students, this session introduced the James Dyson Award, highlighted success stories from local university winners in Malaysia, and explained how to participate in this international competition. The award serves as a platform for young engineers and designers to showcase creativity and innovation in solving real-world problems.

The Department extends its appreciation to the Dyson representatives, and to Department's coordinators, Associate Professor Dr. Siti Azfanizam Ahmad (Coordinator of Student Affairs) and Dr Muhamad Amin Azman (Coordinator of Final Year Project) who organized and contributed to the success of the program.

The Faculty of Engineering recently hosted a knowledge sharing session titled Program Perkongsian Ilmu: Dapatan Sabatikal.

Representing the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (KMP), Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Che Nor Aiza Jaafar shared her sabbatical experience at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia. Her presentation, Advancements in Metallurgy and Composite Materials, highlighted significant outcomes including high impact publications in PLA/HAp composite materials for biomedical applications, and upcoming book projects in metallurgy. The session offered valuable insights into strengthening research and international collaboration in materials engineering.

The program also featured Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd. Khair Hassan from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (KEE), who presented Predicting the Remaining Useful Life of Electric Vehicle Batteries: A Circular Economy Perspective in Malaysia and Japan. His sharing provided important perspectives on battery health and sustainable mobility.

We thank Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Che Nor Aiza for her inspiring contribution and for representing KMP on the global stage. Appreciation is also extended to Prof. Khair, faculty staff, departmental colleagues, and students for their presence and support.

May these journeys continue to motivate others in pursuing excellence and international collaboration.

Lawatan Akademik ADTEC ke Fakulti Kejuruteraan, UPM

Jabatan Kejuruteraan Mekanikal dan Pembuatan (KMP), Fakulti Kejuruteraan, Universiti Putra Malaysia telah menerima lawatan akademik daripada Pusat Latihan Teknologi Tinggi (ADTEC), Jabatan Tenaga Manusia (JTM) Kampus Bukit Katil, Melaka.

Seramai 26 pelajar bersama 4 pengajar hadir, disambut dengan taklimat mengenai Fakulti Kejuruteraan dan KMP, diikuti lawatan ke bengkel serta makmal jabatan. Turut hadir Timbalan Pengarah Latihan ADTEC JTM Kampus Bukit Katil, Melaka, Ts. Nor Mohamad bin Sulong, yang juga alumni KMP.

Penghargaan dan terima kasih diucapkan kepada pihak ADTEC atas kunjungan akademik ini yang memperkukuh hubungan antara institusi serta membuka ruang perkongsian ilmu dan pengalaman kepada pelajar dalam bidang kejuruteraan mekanikal dan pembuatan.
