🌱✨ IKP UPM Strengthens International Collaboration in the Rubber Industry in China

HAINAN, CHINA, 17 July 2026 – Five experts from the Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) were invited to attend the IRRDB Workshop on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) 2026, held in Haikou, Hainan, China from 13–17 July 2026.

Through this international platform, IKP researchers shared their latest research findings and innovations aimed at strengthening the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) in the rubber industry through the following presentations:

SERDANG, 7 Julai 2026 – Institut Kajian Perladangan (IKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), berbesar hati menerima kunjungan delegasi daripada Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, Rubber Research Institute (CATASRRI) yang diketuai oleh Prof. Wang Lifeng, Ketua Bahagian Penuaian Lateks.

Lawatan ini merupakan platform yang bernilai bagi kedua-dua institusi untuk memperkukuh hubungan kerjasama, bertukar pengetahuan serta meneroka potensi kolaborasi dalam bidang penyelidikan pertanian, pembangunan teknologi, pembinaan kapasiti dan pembangunan industri yang mampan.

SERDANG, 7 July 2026- The Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), was honoured to host a delegation from the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, Rubber Research Institute (CATASRRI), led by Prof. Wang Lifeng, Head of the Latex Harvesting Division.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity for both institutions to strengthen ties, exchange knowledge, and explore potential collaborations in agricultural research, technology development, capacity building, and sustainable industry growth.

Discussions also focused on the Malaysian rubber industry's socioeconomic and agroeconomic landscape, as well as government initiatives aimed at supporting and improving the livelihoods of rubber smallholders.

🌿 Celebrating Young Voices for a Sustainable Future! 🌿

The Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), proudly collaborated with the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) to organise the "Are You the Next Young Roots?" Writing Competition on Sustainable Palm Oil in conjunction with Putra Synergy Month 2026.

Aimed at inspiring young scholars to share fresh perspectives on sustainability, responsible consumption, environmental stewardship, and the future of sustainable palm oil, the competition attracted 40 submissions from UPM postgraduate students across various faculties and disciplines.

The competition culminated in a Prize-Giving Ceremony hosted by RSPO, where the Top 8 winners were recognised for their outstanding writing, originality, and commitment to advancing sustainability through thoughtful ideas and critical analysis.

Dr. Siti Khairunniza Bejo, Director of the Institute of Plantation Studies, UPM.

The event concluded with a CEO Coffee Chat, providing a valuable platform for meaningful discussions and strengthening future collaborations between academia and industry in advancing sustainability.
