🌍 IKPUPM visit to CATASRRI - Strengthening Global Partnerships in Rubber Research! 🌿

Delegates from the Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP), UPM led by Prof. Ts. Dr. Siti Khairunniza Bejo, recently visited the Rubber Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CATAS-RRI) in Hainan, China! 🇨🇳🤝🇲🇾

Hosted by Prof. Dr. Lifeng Wang, the visit focused on driving future research collaborations and tackling major rubber industry challenges, including plantation management, disease control, and Tapping Panel Dryness (TPD).

Highlights of the visit:
🔬 Lab & Museum Tour: Exploring CATAS-RRI’s state-of-the-art facilities, historical milestones, and international research efforts.
⚙️ Tech Demonstration: Visiting the Hainan Provincial Demonstration Base for New Primary Processing Technology to see modern rubber processing innovations in action.
🏭 Industry Exposure: Tour of Hainan Shenghengjia Plastic Packaging Co., Ltd. to observe specialized packaging manufacturing for rubber equipment.

🌱✨ IKP UPM Perkukuh Jaringan Antarabangsa Industri Getah di China

HAINAN, CHINA, 17 Julai 2026- Lima pakar dari Institut Kajian Perladangan (IKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) telah dijemput dalam Bengkel IRRDB Mengenai Amalan Pertanian Baik (GAP) 2026 yang berlangsung di Haikou, Hainan, China pada 13-17 Julai 2026.

Melalui platform antarabangsa ini, para penyelidik IKP berkongsi hasil penyelidikan dan inovasi terkini dalam memperkukuh amalan pertanian baik (GAP) bagi industri getah melalui pembentangan berikut:

🌱✨ IKP UPM Strengthens International Collaboration in the Rubber Industry in China

HAINAN, CHINA, 17 July 2026 – Five experts from the Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) were invited to attend the IRRDB Workshop on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) 2026, held in Haikou, Hainan, China from 13–17 July 2026.

Through this international platform, IKP researchers shared their latest research findings and innovations aimed at strengthening the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) in the rubber industry through the following presentations:

In addition to the knowledge-sharing sessions, the delegation participated in a technical visit to the Yangjiang Branch of Hainan Rubber Group, where they observed the implementation of modern technologies and GAP practices in large-scale rubber plantation management, including the use of smart rubber tapping machines and innovative plantation management techniques.

📌IKP Terima Kunjungan Rasmi Delegasi CATASRRI

SERDANG, 7 Julai 2026 – Institut Kajian Perladangan (IKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), berbesar hati menerima kunjungan delegasi daripada Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, Rubber Research Institute (CATASRRI) yang diketuai oleh Prof. Wang Lifeng, Ketua Bahagian Penuaian Lateks.

Lawatan ini merupakan platform yang bernilai bagi kedua-dua institusi untuk memperkukuh hubungan kerjasama, bertukar pengetahuan serta meneroka potensi kolaborasi dalam bidang penyelidikan pertanian, pembangunan teknologi, pembinaan kapasiti dan pembangunan industri yang mampan.

Perbincangan turut memfokuskan kepada landskap sosioekonomi dan agroekonomi industri getah Malaysia, termasuk inisiatif kerajaan dalam menyokong serta meningkatkan taraf hidup pekebun kecil getah.

📌 IKP Welcomes CATASRRI Delegation for Official Visit

SERDANG, 7 July 2026- The Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), was honoured to host a delegation from the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, Rubber Research Institute (CATASRRI), led by Prof. Wang Lifeng, Head of the Latex Harvesting Division.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity for both institutions to strengthen ties, exchange knowledge, and explore potential collaborations in agricultural research, technology development, capacity building, and sustainable industry growth.

Discussions also focused on the Malaysian rubber industry's socioeconomic and agroeconomic landscape, as well as government initiatives aimed at supporting and improving the livelihoods of rubber smallholders.

IKP extends its sincere appreciation to the CATASRRI delegation and looks forward to fostering stronger international partnerships that drive excellence in research, innovation, and industry development.

🍄🌱 Kepakaran IKP UPM Perkasa Komuniti Melalui Kursus Penanaman Cendawan Sisir 🌱🍄

NILAI, 11 Julai 2026- Institut Kajian Perladangan (IKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) berbangga apabila wakilnya, Encik Nik Muhamad Adnan Mohd Nor, telah dijemput sebagai penceramah jemputan dalam Kursus Penanaman Cendawan Sisir yang dianjurkan oleh Pusat Transformasi Komuniti Universiti (UCTC), UPM dengan kerjasama Pusat Komuniti Desa (PKD) Jijan.

👨🏻‍🏫✨ Melalui sesi perkongsian ilmu dan latihan amali (hands-on), peserta telah didedahkan kepada teknik penanaman cendawan sisir yang berkesan, merangkumi penyediaan medium tanaman, penjagaan tanaman, pengurusan persekitaran serta pengendalian hasil untuk meningkatkan produktiviti dan kualiti pengeluaran.

🍄💡 Program ini bukan sahaja memberi pengetahuan teknikal kepada peserta, malah membuka peluang kepada komuniti untuk menceburi aktiviti pertanian bernilai tinggi yang berpotensi menjana pendapatan dan meningkatkan taraf sosioekonomi keluarga.

📊✅ Bagi membantu peserta mengurus projek dengan lebih sistematik, mereka turut diperkenalkan dengan Dashboard Pemantauan Projek Cendawan serta templat pengiraan untung rugi bagi menyokong pembangunan perusahaan yang lebih mampan.

🌿 Celebrating Young Voices for a Sustainable Future! 🌿

The Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), proudly collaborated with the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) to organise the "Are You the Next Young Roots?" Writing Competition on Sustainable Palm Oil in conjunction with Putra Synergy Month 2026.

Aimed at inspiring young scholars to share fresh perspectives on sustainability, responsible consumption, environmental stewardship, and the future of sustainable palm oil, the competition attracted 40 submissions from UPM postgraduate students across various faculties and disciplines.

The competition culminated in a Prize-Giving Ceremony hosted by RSPO, where the Top 8 winners were recognised for their outstanding writing, originality, and commitment to advancing sustainability through thoughtful ideas and critical analysis.

The event concluded with a CEO Coffee Chat, providing a valuable platform for meaningful discussions and strengthening future collaborations between academia and industry in advancing sustainability.
