A planting project is actually one of the strongest “base learning” activities for preschool children because it blends hands-on experience with multiple developmental skills. These activities are very beneficial for preschool children as they help introduce basic science concepts like how plants grow while encouraging curiosity and observation. Through simple tasks such as digging, planting, and watering, children develop their fine motor skills and learn new vocabulary, which supports their language development. At the same time, caring for plants teaches responsibility and patience, as they need to look after them daily and wait to see results. It also helps children appreciate nature, work together with friends, and feel happy and proud when they see their plants grow.
