Along the way, we challenged ourselves, strengthened our understanding, and gained new perspectives on tricky topics.

Topic: Hilbert Functions and Hilbert Polynomials
Speaker: Yao Yichen
Weโre finishing strong with our last session of this semester! This talk introduces Hilbert function of a projective variety V, and Hilbert polynomial, which is a polynomial such that Hilbert polynomial equals to when the variable is large enough. We will start from introduce graded rings and graded ideals, and lead out to Hilbert function. We also will see the relation between Hilbert functions and pascal triangle, and see some examples of Hilbert function. And then we will see Hilbert-Serreย theorem.
