We are pleased to share that the Dean of the School of Communication, Prof. Dr. Wang Changsong, will serve as a co-host of the 6th International Conference on Media Science and Digital Communication, taking place on 12–13 November in Bali, Indonesia.

All postgraduate students are warmly encouraged to participate and present their media research, research proposals, or dissertation work at the conference. A special discounted registration rate will be available for participants from our co-hosting institution.

We are pleased to announce the publication of "Cultural Transformation and Disruption Through Media and Communication" (December 2025), edited by Professor Wang Changsong, Dean of School of Communication, Xiamen University Malaysia. The volume examines how media and communication both reflect and actively shape processes of cultural transformation in contemporary societies.
He authored the opening chapter, which advances a critical perspective by rethinking communication not as a neutral conduit, but as a contested social practice embedded in relations of power, resistance, and change.

On 20–21 November, the 5th International Conference on Media Science and Digital Communication (MSDC2025) was held in Bangkok, Thailand. Chaired by Prof. Dr. Wang Changsong, Dean of the School of Communication at Xiamen University Malaysia, this year’s conference centred on the theme “Media and Communication in a World Reimagined”.

Bringing together more than 70 presenters from over 20 countries, the conference featured both physical and virtual presentations. The programme included three keynote speeches, six plenary sessions, one invited guest talk, and two workshops, delivered by distinguished scholars and experts from institutions across the globe.

Dr. Wang Changsong has published an editorial titled "Exploring the Interdisciplinary Intersection of Communication and Culture in Today's Mediated World." This editorial marks a significant milestone following his appointment as Associate Editor for a special issue of Frontiers in Communication. The topic is inspired by the Master of Communication and Culture program offered by the School. The issue, which began in May 2023, took over a year of dedicated effort to complete.
