We were delighted to welcome Ms Revina Sidhu, Analyst at Malaysian Rating Corporation Berhad (MARC) and a University of Nottingham Malaysia alumna, back to campus for a guest talk on AI in Marketing Analytics: A Practitioner’s Perspective.

Drawing on her industry experience, Ms. Revina shared how AI is being applied in areas such as data analysis, research, forecasting, and decision-making, while introducing students to tools commonly used in professional practice, including Macrobond, Stata, and Microsoft Excel.

The session also highlighted an important message: while AI can improve efficiency and support better decision-making, human judgement, critical thinking, and strategic thinking remain essential skills in the workplace.

Thank you, Ms. Revina, for taking the time to share your experiences and insights with our students. It was a valuable opportunity for them to learn how AI is shaping the future of work.

Happy Teachers’ Day from NUBS Malaysia.

Behind every lesson, every piece of advice, and every word of encouragement is a teacher who genuinely cares. Teaching is so much more than delivering lectures, it is staying back to listen when a student is struggling, offering reassurance during uncertain moments, and believing in someone even when they doubt themselves.

To all educators, thank you for the patience, kindness, and heart you bring into your work every day. The impact you leave often goes far beyond grades or classrooms. You shape confidence, inspire growth, and change lives in ways that may never fully be seen.

Today, we celebrate you and all that you do. 💙🩵🤍

A proud moment for Nottingham University Business School Malaysia.

Congratulations to Amirun Haqqim bin Eldeen Husaini on becoming the first doctoral candidate from NUBS Malaysia to receive the prestigious DAAD Bi-National Doctoral Scholarship - one of Germany’s most competitive academic awards.

Already a recipient of the University of Nottingham Malaysia PhD Scholarship, Haqqim’s work is now recognised at both institutional and international levels. His research, at the intersection of computational social science and political psychology, explores how polarising narratives emerge and spread in digital spaces.

Through this scholarship, he will undertake a funded research stay at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich, working with Professor Stefan Pickl and Professor Max Moll from the COMTESSA research group, while continuing under the supervision of Professor Yvonne Seow Hsin Vonn at NUBS Malaysia.

From Malaysia to Munich, we look forward to seeing where this journey leads.

A thoughtful and engaging session on purpose-driven entrepreneurship took place at Nottingham University Business School on 20 April 2026, as we welcomed Mr Carlos Fernández to our Managing Innovation & Entrepreneurship postgraduate class.

Representing Take The Leap, Carlos shared his journey of building a venture grounded in social impact and human connection. His insights offered a refreshing perspective on entrepreneurship—moving beyond traditional profit-driven models towards creating inclusive spaces that foster meaningful relationships and positive social change.

The session provided valuable real-world context, highlighting how intentional communities, authentic conversations, and shared experiences can form the foundation of impactful ventures.

Engagements like these reflect our ongoing commitment to bridging academic theory with industry practice, while exposing students to diverse and purpose-driven entrepreneurial pathways.

We would also like to thank Dr Risky Harisa Haslan and Dr Hoh Chin Chin for facilitating this insightful session.

Service Tax is something students often encounter in everyday transactions and learn about in class, but understanding how it operates in practice offers a very different perspective.

On 30 March 2026, we had the pleasure of hosting a guest lecture on Service Tax, delivered by Liew Li Lih, Senior Manager at PwC Malaysia, and organised by Dr Too Shaw Warn.

The session provided a clear and structured overview of key areas, including scope, registration, compliance, exemptions, and special rules. Drawing on her professional experience, Ms. Liew also shared practical insights from real client scenarios, offering students a deeper appreciation of how Service Tax is applied and managed in practice.

Interactive elements, such as short quizzes and case-based discussions, kept the session engaging and encouraged students to think more critically about the subject.

Our sincere thanks to Ms. Liew for sharing her expertise and for bringing industry perspectives into the classroom.

A proud moment for Nottingham University Business School Malaysia.

Our student team, Thashwin Kalithas and Fiona Ting Xin from The Turing Point, has achieved Second Runner-Up (Top 3 globally) at Chartered Institute of Marketing’s global student competition, The Pitch.

They are the only team from Malaysia, and the only team from Asia, to secure a place in the global Top 3.

The challenge required students to address misconceptions surrounding AI among UK SMEs, an area that demands not only creativity, but clarity of thought, strategic discipline, and the ability to translate complex ideas into meaningful and persuasive narratives.

As the team reflected:
“Marketing is often seen as just ‘selling,’ but this competition proved that it is truly about problem-solving, strategic agility, and the power of a well-crafted narrative.”

The team also expressed their appreciation to Dr Shu Han Tan, for her guidance throughout the competition, from sharing critical market insights and research perspectives to dedicating extra time to practice sessions and refining their strategy and delivery. They further acknowledged Dr Kenny Wong Meng Seng for his valuable industry insights, which helped align their proposal with real-world expectations.

This achievement reflects not only the outcome, but the level of thinking, resilience, and commitment demonstrated throughout the journey.

A well-deserved recognition on a global stage.
