We are delighted to announce that our researchers have received a total of RM1,095,200 under the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) from MOHE for the year 2022.
The journey in securing this competitive national fundamental research grant was a notable experience. Our sincere appreciation to all the grant applicants, internal reviewers, and FRGS committee who have worked hand in hand throughout the submission process.

Yesterday UNM was honored to host delegates from Leave a Nest Group, Leave a Nest Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Euglena Co., Ltd, Human Life Advancement Foundation, JetPro Technology Sdn. Bhd., University Teknology Malaysia (UTM), University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Xiamen University Malaysia and UCSI University.
These industry and universities key players were here to discuss the ongoing research collaboration in Algal Biotechnology Consortium (ABC) as well as to lay out new potential ideas for further collaborations between industry and consortium partners.

Ir. Ts. Dr. Vimal Rau Aparow recently welcomed Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) for the YTI Professional Chair Programme Research Grants evaluation.
The visit was joined by expert panels of UMW Holdings; Dato' Abdul Rashid Musa (Group Chief Mobility & Innovation Officer), Mr. Amri Hasim (Head of UMW Innovation and R&D Centre). Ir. Ts. Dr. Muhammad Izzal Ismail (Head of Product Innovation), En. Mohd Hazrin Zakaria (Sr. Man. Research & Ideation).
Ir. Ts. Dr. Vimal Rau Aparow successfully demonstrated part of his research progress on the virtual safety testing for autonomous vehicle.

The world's first Algal Biotechnology Consortium (ABC) was officially launched on 10th June 2022 during the 6th International Conference and Postgraduate Colloquium for Environmental Research (POCER 2022).
This collaboration between 33 parties from institutions and industries alike sets Malaysia as the center for the world’s algae biotechnology consortium (ABC) as an essential solution toward a sustainable planet and to replace over-exhausted fossil fuel products.
The consortium is led by our own Prof. Show Pau Loke from the Department of Chemical Engineering.

The third student in our featured FYP series is Karishma from School of Pharmacy. She investigated the antimicrobial effects of ginger, scientifically known as Zingiber Officinale.
This is a good reminder to include more ginger in our diets!
