On October 14, 2024, the University of Nottingham Malaysia’s School of Economics, in collaboration with the World Bank Group, announced the winners of the Nottingham-World Bank Asian Economics Essay Competition 2024.

Since 2014, this annual competition has been open to pre-university and high school students in Malaysia. In 2024, it was expanded to include students across Asia, encouraging them to address current economic issues. This year’s theme asked participants to explore the role of government in supporting the green transition, challenging them to propose policies—using fiscal, monetary, and regulatory tools—that could help achieve a sustainable, net-zero future.
