On 1 August, our very own Dr. Saizi Xiao from the School of Economics took the stage as a keynote speaker at the CEO Connects Event, co-hosted by Media Prima OMNiA and the SME Association of Malaysia.
Speaking to over 100 Malaysian SMEs, Dr. Saizi shared valuable insights on how the new U.S. tariff policies are shaping Malaysiaβs economic outlookβand what SMEs can do to stay resilient in todayβs shifting global economy.

On October 14, 2024, the University of Nottingham Malaysiaβs School of Economics, in collaboration with the World Bank Group, announced the winners of the Nottingham-World Bank Asian Economics Essay Competition 2024.
Since 2014, this annual competition has been open to pre-university and high school students in Malaysia. In 2024, it was expanded to include students across Asia, encouraging them to address current economic issues. This yearβs theme asked participants to explore the role of government in supporting the green transition, challenging them to propose policiesβusing fiscal, monetary, and regulatory toolsβthat could help achieve a sustainable, net-zero future.
