Merdeka Treasure Hunt 🇲🇾

🇲🇾 Learning English Through Merdeka! 🇲🇾

Today, our CEFR A1 class began with an exam paper discussion, where the teacher guided students through the questions and shared useful techniques and strategies to answer that particular section more effectively.

After that, students took part in a fun and interactive Merdeka-themed Treasure Hunt featuring three exciting learning stations! 🎯😊

🔵 Station 1: The History Detectives
Students explored Malaysia’s Merdeka through comprehension questions, learning about the meaning of Merdeka, Merdeka Day, Tunku Abdul Rahman’s role and how Malaysians celebrate Independence Day. 🇲🇾

📚 Focus: Reading & Writing

🔵 Station 2: Merdeka Mission
Students completed a listening challenge by filling in missing information and answering True/False questions based on the teacher’s script. They also practised speaking about their favourite Malaysian food, places and Merdeka celebrations. 🎧🗣️
📚 Focus: Listening & Speaking

🔵 Station 3: Build Malaysia & Message to Malaysia
Students matched pictures, words and descriptions related to Malaysia, wrote facts about selected Malaysian items and completed a 35–50-word “Message to Malaysia” postcard. 💌🇲🇾

📚 Focus: Reading, Writing & Speaking

✨ Overall, today’s lesson combined exam preparation with meaningful, hands-on learning, helping our students strengthen their Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking skills while celebrating the spirit of Merdeka.

Today our CEFR A2 learners focused on exam preparation, practising Part 5 and Part 6 (Email Writing) with guidance on answering techniques and effective email organisation.

In the second hour, students enjoyed a Merdeka-themed Treasure Hunt 🇲🇾🔎 involving three stations covering Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. They completed inference questions, listening tasks, Malaysian culture activities, and a short writing task on “What can young Malaysians do to make their country better?”

Students then completed the final challenges and successfully unlocked the Merdeka code:

Overall, the lesson combined exam preparation, critical thinking, communication and teamwork in a fun and meaningful Merdeka-themed activity.

📰 Reading Beyond the Classroom! 📚

Today, our Flyers students enjoyed a newspaper reading and comprehension activity. Working in groups, they selected an article, identified the 5W1H (Who, What, When, Where, Why & How), and summarised it in their own words.

Through this activity, students practised reading comprehension, vocabulary, summarising and teamwork using authentic reading materials. 😊🌟

🏝️ Survival Debate Activity! ✈️

Our KET & PET students took part in a fun “Stranded on an Island!” survival debate.

Given 20 items, they had to choose the 8 most important items for survival while discussing, giving reasons, agreeing, disagreeing and persuading their teammates.

Through this activity, students practised speaking, critical thinking, teamwork, negotiation and expressing opinions in English. 🗣️✨
