Electric fences are not simply security systems — they are regulated electrical installations with specific safety and compliance requirements.

Improper installation or maintenance may lead to:
• electric shock incidents
• public safety hazards
• risks to children and animals
• fire hazards
• enforcement action for non-compliance

This is why electric fence systems must comply with the Energy Commission’s safety requirements and installation guidelines.

Many LPG-related incidents are caused not by equipment failure alone, but by unsafe handling practices, poor installation methods, and lack of awareness on applicable safety standards.

Standards such as:
• MS 830:2021 — LPG storage, handling & transportation
• MS 930:2017 — gas piping systems installation

play an important role in ensuring LPG systems are installed and operated safely.

This session focuses on practical safety awareness, compliance understanding, and common industry risks involving LPG and gas piping systems.

These processes are critical to ensure the integrity, reliability, and safety of piped gas infrastructure.

This ST-ECE session provides practical awareness on Natural Gas Distribution Systems (NGDS) and LPG reticulation systems aligned with the Gas Supply Act 1993 and industry safety requirements.

Under the Gas Supply Act 1993 and Gas Supply Regulations 1997, gas competent persons carry important legal and safety responsibilities in ensuring piped gas systems are designed, operated, and maintained safely.

This includes:
✔ compliance with regulatory requirements
✔ safe operation of gas systems
✔ adherence to technical standards
✔ ensuring public and workplace safety
✔ maintaining competency and professional conduct

Gas systems involve inherent risks if not properly managed. Continuous competency enhancement therefore remains critical for the industry.
