A group of young innovators from SJKT Ampang are once again carrying Malaysia’s name onto the global stage, this time in Hong Kong.

Dish*ta Batmanathan, Thushantnair Pobalan and Jai Ganeesh Vinod are representing the country at the 12th Hong Kong International Student Innovation Invention Contest (HKISIIC) 2026, held at Chu Hai College from March 12 to 15.

The team was specially invited by the Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDS) after their outstanding achievement at the World Young Inventors Exhibition (WYIE) 2025, where they were awarded the Best of the Best Invention in the primary school category during ITEX 2025.

Digital Junior is a future-ready learning program designed to introduce children aged 7 years and above to the world of technology in a fun way. The program starts with the block-based coding, making it suitable even for students with zero prior experience. Children are introduced to microcontrollers to understand how real electronics work and learn how to connect coding with hardware to turn ideas into real actions. They explore different sensors to control lights, sounds, and movements through code while working on electronics-based projects that build creativity and confidence. The program also introduces IoT (Internet of Things) concepts, helping students understand how smart devices communicate and function in everyday life. Basic robotics concepts are taught to develop logical thinking, automation skills, and problem-solving abilities, along with beginner-friendly exposure to servers and smart systems. Overall, Digital Junior helps children develop creativity, critical thinking, and essential digital skills needed for the future.
