Global Teacher Prize 2016.
Many asked me recently.
How did you get nominated?
What did you do to get selected as a Top50 finalists?
As always, I am speechless. Can I be honest in projecting my thoughts?
After careful thinking. Of days of careful thinking.
This is what I can say.
I always put my students' interest and need as number one.
I put myself last.
I love knowledge so much, that it became a need.
I love this calling so much, that it became me.
That's what I did.
The reward? Is always given by Allah, The Almighty to me.
Through this amazing Varkey Gems Foundation.
I am not perfect. Far from it.
Always believe in the power of believing.
Put your needs last as a teacher.
Think of how much can your students gain from you.
Think of how much your students can change the world.
I wished you all the best.
This is not for the teachers in Malaysia only.
This is for all of you, great teachers out there.

In conjunction with Teachers' Appreciation week, here's one of the shout out of why "TEACHERS MATTER"
Throwback to 27th April 2015
My club, The Science and Maths Club participated in the Sports Carnivale of SMK La Salle, Petaling Jaya.
Our stall is called - THE CHEMINOMICAL TEAM
And why teachers matter?
because I have here 2 handsome young men, Shughes and Alief who were my ex-students from senior year batch 2013, who came in and help out at my stall.....
I just have to tell them that I am running this stall. And they came and help out all the way.
Love them always!
So - when you won the hearts of your students, always.

Salam and hello everyone!
I hope everyone is well and healthy and happy in whatever that you are doing.
Here's the video of me in the running for an award by a local TV station, Astro Awani = "Heroes of Awani" / Wira Awani
Here's the English Translation of the video footage featured over Primetime News yesterday nite, KL time.
"Maybe the teaching profession can be considered as a norm, but for the students of a Chemistry teacher, Yasmin Noorul Amin, they saw their teacher as a source of inspiration to master knowledge."
HEADLINE : Teacher Yasmin as a source of inspiration for her students'
"Teacher Yasmin, a simple, humble lady, well-versed and is always smiling. Many personally did not know this lady who hails from Taiping, Perak (a state in Malaysia) if our Prime Minister himself did not tweet and congratulate her on the social media on the 26th of January. Now, she has been shortlisted as the top 50 finalist of Global Teacher Prize among the other teachers around the world, organised by Varkey Gems Foundation.
This former engineer, is now an educator in La Salle Petaling Jaya, Secondary School for the past 10 years.
She advocates "Sapientia et Caritas - Wisdom and Love" and applies it in her teachings. She is well-loved by her students.
As an educator, Teacher Yasmin believes that each of her students have their own potential to be developed.
Yasmin has one innovation in her class which is called SIESTA (Sleep activity) to ensure that her students are always focus in their quest for learning.
Carrying books, marking his/her students exam papers, teaching in front of students - those are synonymous to a teacher's routined activity.
But, deep in our thoughts and mind, we cannot deny that a teacher is like a candle who burns to brighten up his/her students future.
This is the story of a Chemistry teacher, Yasmin Noorul Amin which has set an example for all the teachers out there.
At the moment the official voting activity is not being made known. But the LIKES on the video on you-tube would definitely be a booster!!
Thank You! Hope you enjoy it!

6th APRIL 2015
Another great sharing session.
My 2nd IPG after Batu Lintang, Sarawak.
Thanks to KLASIK for inviting me to share my story.
Made friends with these mentors :
Mr Barchan Singh - President of KLASIK
Puan Aneesha - Vice President of KLASIK
Mr Pushpa
Tuan Abdul Said - PK SMK Teluk Bahang
and a whole lot of other great individuals..
I really felt different when young trainee-teachers asking me for autographs....
That was truly remarkable, cute and also shocking at the same time.
My only advice to them : teach minds, touch hearts, transform lives.
My biggest GRATITUDE will be to my MENTOR = Dr Mohan, who have helped, moulded and gave me opportunities to shine...
From giving me the responsibilities of an MC for sports day to MSSD; designing the school events' brochures and district level teacher's day brochures; district and state level team manager for handball, dealing with SPR as the polling clerk to helping me out when students quarelled in class that turned violent and endless of others.
Teachers help Teachers.

My journey so far has been wonderful, colourful, meaningful.
In Penang, great things continue to happen.
Courtesy of Allah of course.
On the first day of arrival, our room was upgraded to a suite.
And my husband was given a complimentary breakfast.
The great hospitality was extended again as I was granted with another complimentary stay in that suite with breakfast.
To top it all, the Manager, Mr Jim even offered his car for us to use to have dinner in our favourite soup restaurant in penang street.
What a wonderful honour, to be able to contribute to the society and also enjoy the moments...
Thanks a lot, Dearest Mr Jim from Hotel Vistana, Penang
We can't thank you enough.
That's the handsome Mr Jim with me at the entrance of Vistana Hotel, Penang.
