Last Sunday, 2nd November, was such a beautiful learning day! I attended a Nattuvangam workshop organized by our very own Anne from . He brought in an amazing master all the way from India, Guru , who’s well known for his talent in Thalam and Nattuvangam.
The morning started with a theory session on Mishra Chappu Alaripu. It was quite intense at first, but once we got into the rhythm, it became so much fun! By the end of the lesson, everyone could perform it confidently. We also learned Kanda Chappu Alaripu with the same excitement. What made it special was how Master Kumaren made everything feel simple and easy to understand. He patiently explained how to read and count Thalam in a clear way and even demonstrated both Alaripus beautifully.
He was so humble and open to sharing his knowledge, answering every question with a smile. The whole class was calm yet full of energy, and we were all completely focused on his teachings. A huge thank you to Thanen Anne for bringing such a wonderful guru to us. I left the class with a happy heart, a mind full of rhythm, and a few new Thalam beats still dancing in my head!
