School Holiday Splash Fun! 💦☀️

Splashing, jumping, sliding, and laughing.
What a fun way to end the school holidays, the children enjoyed a refreshing water play session filled with excitement and smiles.

What did they learn?
✨ Built confidence while exploring water play activities
✨ Practised social skills by taking turns and playing cooperatively with friends
✨ Improved coordination and body control through active movement
✨ Learned to follow safety rules and instructions in a fun environment

At Johan Preschool, we believe children learn best through play. Every splash, laugh, and adventure helps build lifelong skills while creating joyful memories with friends!

As parents, we spend a lot of time worrying about whether our children are learning enough.

Can read already?
Can count already?
Which school?
Which enrichment class?
Will they fall behind?

But after meeting this China mom, I found myself asking a different question.

In 20 years' time, what will matter more?

A child who scored slightly higher at school?

Or a child who can confidently walk into a room full of strangers, start a conversation, make friends, adapt to change and navigate unfamiliar situations?

Academic knowledge is important.

But so are communication skills, confidence, adaptability, resilience, curiosity and emotional intelligence.

Many of these soft skills are not learned from textbooks.

They are learned through experiences, challenges, exposure and interactions with people.

Perhaps the question isn't whether academics are important.

The real question is:

Are we spending as much time developing character and life skills as we are developing academic skills?

Curious to hear from parents.
