To others, it may look like a child “acting out.”
But in this moment, he was simply overwhelmed and afraid of being left alone.

He held onto my hand so tightly — pulling, twisting, squeezing, even scratching at times — just to seek reassurance that someone safe was still beside him.

And yet, even during the hardest moments, he was still listening in his own way.
When I reminded him gently, he tried to loosen his grip. He tried to be gentle again.

That is why trust matters so much for children with ASD.
Before they can learn, follow instructions, or complete tasks, they first need to feel emotionally safe and regulated.

Sometimes what a child needs most is not control, punishment, or pressure…
but a calm adult who stays, understands, and helps them feel safe enough to come back to us.

And after regulating in the sensory room, he smiled, settled, and was able to continue his task again — because connection always comes before learning.

To all parents walking through moments like this:
You are not alone, and your child is not “bad.”
They are trying their best in a world that can sometimes feel too overwhelming for them. 🌈

Somersaults and crawling may look like simple play, but they’re powerful for development. They help build:

🧩coordination, and
🧩body awareness, while also
🧩stimulating the vestibular system (balance) and
🧩proprioception (knowing where the body is in space).
For children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, these movements can support
🧩sensory regulation,
🧩improve focus, and
🧩increase confidence in using their body
laying the foundation for better attention, learning, and daily functioning 💛
