A tribute to the late Prof. Dr Leonard Yong.
I was having my dinner with Grace at home on the evening of Wednesday 14th May 2025 when I received an email from Dr Brenda Yong, "Special Announcement: Dr Leonard Yong. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Dr Leonard Yong, aged 73 years old....."
Prof laid to rest ?..... I was dumbfounded. What happened ? How can this be? I just could not accept this news that Prof has been called by the Lord.
As it was a wednesday evening. I would go to the Celebration of the word. The thought of Prof and my journey with him consumed my mind.
I offered my prayer to the Heavenly Father, "In your merciful love, receive the soul of Leonard Yong, into your eternal embrace."
To me "Prof", as I have always addressed Dr. Leonard Yong was a gentle man, a loving soul with an articulate mission.
Living an "Emotional Excellence" life, was a term coined and made famous by him.
With this mission, he had touched at the least 100,000 souls !
Not only Malaysians!
I always said to my clients, Prof is the best kept Export of Malaysia!
I met Prof 23 years ago at University of Malaya. (After two of his DBA students from Sarawak spoke to me about Prof and his work.)
We began a relationship. I would promote his programme in Malaysia..
I cherished this 23 years old relationship with him. How many 23 years can one's has.
For me, it was the beginning of my venture into a business, a journey of a Nobel's vision
n, also acronym for Nobility, openness, Brave, Excellence and learning.
I remember attending my first lesson at Petronas Leadership Centre where I was so impressed with the philosophy, the person, methods and the delivery.
His Unique Buantan Malaysia's innovative invention "Leonard personality inventory" has been used to help countless people to know their personality better, using it to understand their inner needs and build relationship with others.
Over the last 23 years, I have attended countless sessions by Prof. It is difficult to take his lesson and walked away without being touched by this Masterclass Guru !
Prof lived a humble life. Prefered to be low profile. His Family and God were his priority.
"Thankfulness and gratefulness" were his motto of life. He taught in his lesson, he lived in his life.
We did not have a chance to bid Farewell.
I believe and trust that God will allow us to meet in his heavenly kingdom, where we meet again in externality.
Thank you Prof, for a beautiful 23 years together in communion, participating in the Mission that Christ has entrusted to us.
I missed you. I love you.
Praise the Lord! Alleluia. AMEN.
Peace
James Lau
