"When I first started my journey at Oscar Music Studio, I never imagined how much I would grow in just over two years plus.

Achieving my Grade 8 certificate within this short period was a milestone I am incredibly proud of. It was not easy, but it was absolutely worth it.

Throughout this journey, I have received more than 10 awards and had the privilege to perform on various stages and recitals.

Each performance shaped me, challenged me, and strengthened my confidence. Today, I am able to sing opera, sacred music, art songs, and folk songs in English, Italian, French, German, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese — something I once thought was beyond my ability.

I may be an amateur singer, but I chose to learn with a professional mindset. Under Teacher Oscar’s guidance, I did not just learn how to sing. I learned musicality, musicianship, expression, diction, discipline, and how to truly connect with the soul of the music. He constantly pushed me beyond my comfort zone and believed in me even when I doubted myself.

There were moments of struggle, frustration, and self-doubt. There were technical challenges and emotional barriers to overcome. But through perseverance and determination, I learned that growth comes from persistence. Every difficulty became a stepping stone.

I am deeply grateful to Teacher Oscar for his dedication, patience, and unwavering support. Because of his mentorship, I now dare to dream bigger.

Oscar Yong, Tenor

Founder & Music Director, Oscar Music Studio

Oscar Yong is a tenor from Sibu, Sarawak, Malaysia, and a protégé of the renowned Italian international tenor Angelo Marenzi. He studied music at the Institute of Music, UCSI University, and the Conservatorio di Musica Santa Cecilia, Roma, majoring in Vocal Performance and minoring in Piano. Oscar is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, English, Malay, Italian, and French.

Oscar holds a Grade 8 Trinity Guildhall Vocal Certificate (Distinction) and a Grade 8 ABRSM Piano Examination Certificate. His professional training includes masterclasses with internationally acclaimed vocal pedagogues, including:

In 2019, Oscar was selected for the Young Artist Program in Rovereto, Italy, where he prepared the role of The Duke (Rigoletto) under the guidance of conductor Giuseppe Sebastian Raffa.

He has sung with the UCSI Chamber Choir (Gold Prize winners at the Orientale Concentus III International Choral Festival, Taiwan), Yin Qi Sacred Music Choir, and the East Malaysia Bach Festival Singers, performing major repertoire including:

When Pop Meets Classical: OMS Students’ Vocal Recital – Performers Series V (Pianist)

Ng Mun Hong, Piano

Ng Mun Hong began his piano studies at the age of 11 and achieved a Distinction in the ABRSM Grade 8 Piano Examination in 1984. In 2011, he continued his formal training under Loo Bang Hean, subsequently obtaining both the ATCL and LTCL diplomas in Piano Performance.

He has participated in numerous piano masterclasses, studying with distinguished musicians, including Colin Kingsley, Foo Mei Yee, and David Ball.

Since 2011, he has served as the pianist for the choir of Sea Park Chinese Baptist Church, Petaling Jaya. His collaboration with the choir has spanned 15 years and continues to this day.

Driven by a desire for continual artistic growth, Ng actively participates in piano competitions to challenge himself with increasingly demanding repertoire. He has travelled to Budapest on four occasions to compete in the Finals of the International Liszt Ferenc Competition (ILFC), earning First Class Honorable Mentions in both 2024 and 2025. These competitions were followed by music tours to major European musical capitals such as Vienna, Salzburg, and Leipzig, where he visited the birthplaces and museums of great composers—experiences that deeply inspired his musical journey.

Ng has developed an enduring passion for piano music, with particular admiration for the works of Bach, Beethoven, Brahms and Chopin. Even at the age of 60, he continues to study and perform major works, including Beethoven sonatas and pieces by Chopin and Debussy.

For Mun Hong, piano playing is ultimately about sharing great music. He believes that when beautiful music fills the air, it creates moments of wonder and resonates deeply with the audience.

1) Roderick Tang, Baritone

Roderick Tang started his music journey at the age of 3 with Yamaha Music.

Although currently residing at the Beijing institution of Technology as an engineering major, he continues to play and write music alongside his elocution and debating hobbies.

Roderick embarked on his resonant vocal journey with Oscar Music Studios in May of 2025.

I am Kok Hooi, a middle age engineer that is love to sing and has a lot of passion in music.
