One of the reasons why coffee bean sorting is important: to sort out the foreign object.

Coffee has been sorted many times by the time it reaches to our cup. From coffee cherries that sorted by ripeness, green beans that sorted by density, to post-roast sorting of burned beans, quakers and foreign objects, such as small stone, debris and etc.
This final sorting is done to ensure highest quality beans are brewed in our cup, resulting in more consistent and better cup of coffee. ☕️

The proper way to store coffee green beans:
T⃨e⃨m⃨p⃨e⃨r⃨a⃨t⃨u⃨r⃨e⃨
Room temperature at 15°c to 25°c, which usually air conditioned room for hotter countries (eg: Malaysia).
H⃨u⃨m⃨i⃨d⃨i⃨t⃨y⃨
Stable humidity at around 60% to prevent green beans from mold growing, drying out and flavour losing.
L⃨i⃨g⃨h⃨t⃨ F⃨r⃨e⃨e⃨
Away from light, as dark as possible to prevent drying out and reducing in aroma and flavours.
O⃨d⃨o⃨u⃨r⃨ F⃨r⃨e⃨e⃨
Do not store green beans next to food or anything with strong smell as it will absorb aroma and flavours.
P⃨e⃨s⃨t⃨ F⃨r⃨e⃨e⃨
Insects such as weevils and psocids not only affects the quality of green beans, but also reduces green beans weight.

Coffee beans are from cherry-like fruits called coffee cherry. It’s made up of outer skin, pulp, parchment, silver skin, and finally the coffee seed/bean.
Can you eat coffee cherries? Yes, you can, it’s a fruit! And it tastes sweet like mangosteen.
