This morning, our management team gathered at Menara OUM to welcome our new GCEO, En. Farid Wajidi Mat Yusoff, on his first day with METEOR Group.

In the spirit of camaraderie and continuity, among the first to greet En. Farid at the lobby was our former GCEO, Dato’ Naharudin Ali. Their meeting marked a smooth and positive leadership handover, setting the tone for an exciting new chapter ahead.

As we thank Dato’ Naharudin for his dedicated leadership and contributions, we also look forward to working together with En. Farid as we continue advancing accessible education, lifelong learning, and innovation across the Group.

A Warm Farewell to Our GCEO

Great leadership expands both an organisation and the people within it.

The METEOR Board, Group Leadership Team, and Executive Management Committee recently gathered at Merdeka 118 to honour outgoing Group CEO, YBhg Dato’ Naharudin Ali, and his spouse, YBhg Datin Faridah Mohd Kassim.

There was an opening tribute by the Head of HR, Encik Aznam Zakaria. Then the Chairman of the METEOR Board, YBhg Professor Dato’ Seri Ir Dr Noor Azuan Abu Osman, delivered an address highlighting Dato’ Naharudin's significant contributions.

From the 98th floor, the setting matched the tone of a leader who encouraged the Group to think and reach higher.

Since 2023, Dato’ Naharudin has reshaped the METEOR Group into a broader education ecosystem. METEOR Academy was revitalised with TVET programmes, and Islah Education was introduced to bring preschool learning into the Group.

METEOR now spans a full learning journey: early childhood, university education through OUM, and professional development via METEOR Learning.

Beyond structure, his impact was also felt by staff, including the introduction of wakalah support for employees with children in education.

The Board, management, and staff thank him for his leadership and care, and wish him and Datin Faridah continued health and happiness.

He will be dearly missed, and remembered with genuine appreciation across the Group.

In honour of International Workers' Day tomorrow, the METEOR Group decided to trade the usual routine for something a little more delicious.

To show our appreciation for the incredible dedication of our 800 staff across Malaysia, we gifted specially curated, locally made chocolates and biscuits from Cherita Chocolate.

Known for their artistic flair, Cherita Chocolate helped design unique, custom illustrations for us centred around "A Harmonious Workplace & Productivity".

Each canister was a work of art, featuring uplifting messages like "You are our secret recipe" and "You are the best ingredient".

It wasn’t just about the treats; it was about the connection. Our Group CEO, Dato' Naharudin Ali, and Prof Dato' Dr. Ahmad Izanee Awang, President/VC of OUM, joined forces with top management and HoDs to personally hand-deliver these gifts to their teams.

As En. Aznam Zakaria shared, this collaboration with Group Strategic Communications was all about bringing a bit of "fun" into the workplace to truly honor the people who make METEOR great.

Today, we welcomed a meaningful visit from Tahfiz Madinatul Huffaz (MTIHM) to explore potential collaboration opportunities.

The session was chaired by Dato’ Naharudin Ali, Group CEO, together with Mr Mohd Fakhruddin Mohd Ariff, CEO of our subsidiary, Islah Education; Mr Khairumukhriz Ridzwan, Head, Group Legal & Secretarial; and Mr Suhaimi Jamaludin, Head, Group Risk, Integrity, Compliance & Audit.

Joining us from MTIHM was Ustaz Dr Azahar Yaakub, Chairman.

As an initial meeting, the conversation centred on exchanging perspectives and exploring possible avenues for collaboration with METEOR and OUM. It also provided an opportunity to better understand both sides’ focus areas and goals.

A good first step – with more conversations to follow as we look ahead to potential collaboration.
