🎖️❤️‍🔥 ✨FEduShine - PhD graduates

Alhamdulillah, Dr. Md Rosli Ismail is deeply grateful and proud to have successfully supervised two doctoral graduates who are celebrating their achievements at Open University Malaysia’s 30th Convocation: Dr. May-Ann Chew, who completed her Doctor of Education (EdD), and Dr. Margaret Pereira, who completed her Doctor of Philosophy (Arts).

A doctoral journey is never easy. It requires perseverance, discipline, intellectual courage, and a willingness to accept constructive feedback. Throughout their journeys, both graduates demonstrated a strong commitment to improving their research, strengthening their academic voices and developing as independent scholars. Their success is a fitting reward for the many hours of reading, writing, reflection, and revision invested along the way.

It has been a privilege for Dr. Md Rosli to serve as their supervisor. Their thoughtful letters of appreciation touched him deeply and reaffirmed that doctoral supervision is not merely about helping students complete their theses. It is also about building confidence, nurturing scholarly growth and walking alongside students through moments of progress, uncertainty and discovery.

Dr. Md Rosli extends his heartfelt congratulations to Dr. May-Ann Chew and Dr. Margaret Pereira on this significant achievement. May both graduates continue to contribute their knowledge, leadership and experience to society while inspiring others through their work.

Well done, Doctors! Your success is truly deserved.

Event: *Creating Inclusive Classrooms: Practical Strategies for Supporting Diverse Learners*
📅 Date: 17 July 2026

OUM in Action: Building Inclusive Classrooms.

The Faculty of Education, Open University Malaysia (OUM) is proud to be at the forefront of advancing special needs and inclusive education through impactful outreach programmes, professional training, and community engagement. As part of OUM's commitment to building inclusive learning environments, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gurdip Kaur Saminder Singh was invited to deliver a keynote and professional development session on the 17th of July 2026 titled “Creating Inclusive Classrooms: Practical Strategies for Supporting Diverse Learners."

More than 150 teachers and senior management staff from Stella Maris International School chose to spend their morning investing in something even more valuable, their professional growth and their students' future. The session focused on equipping educators with evidence-based approaches to recognising learning differences, creating inclusive classroom environments, supporting learners with diverse needs, and implementing differentiated instruction that benefits every child.

What made the session truly inspiring was the mix emotions of curiosity and enthusiasm in the room. Despite it being the final day before the school break, participants remained engaged, asking thoughtful questions, sharing classroom experiences, and exploring practical strategies that they could immediately implement when the new term begins.

At OUM, we believe that inclusive education is not merely a teaching strategy. It is a commitment to ensuring every learner is seen, supported, and empowered to succeed. Through continuous partnerships with schools, educators, industry, and community organisations, OUM continues to champion educational excellence, innovation, and inclusion across Malaysia.

A heartfelt thank you to Esther Loh, the Learning Support Specialist and Joseph Liew, the campus Director from Stella Maris International School for the invitation, warm hospitality, and unwavering commitment to creating learning environments where every child belongs. Sincere gratitude to the Dean of the Faculty of Education at Open University Malaysia, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mahani Abdul Malik, whose inspiring leadership continues to guide the faculty in advancing OUM's vision of a lifelong CARE ecosystem, where education, inclusion, and community partnerships come together to empower individuals across every stage of life.

Inclusive education begins with empowered educators. Empowered educators begin with OUM.
