Real learning happens when students step beyond the classroom.
For Siti Safurah binti Salahudeen, her hospital placement at UMMC / PPUM offered a meaningful glimpse into the world of diagnostic laboratory practice. Through exposure to Histopathology and Cytopathology, she gained a deeper appreciation for the vital work that happens behind the scenes before patients receive their results.
From tissue processing and paraffin embedding to microtomy and staining, the experience helped her strengthen her technical skills, confidence, precision and sense of professional responsibility.
At Taylor’s Biomedical Science, students are prepared through experiential learning opportunities that connect academic knowledge with real healthcare environments. These hands-on experiences help develop graduates who are observant, skilled and ready to contribute to the future of laboratory medicine.
Discover how Taylor’s Biomedical Science can shape your journey in healthcare and laboratory sciences.

From microscope to molecular medicine: clinical pathology plays a vital role in lung cancer care.
In lung cancer, every treatment decision begins with understanding the tumour such as its histological subtype, molecular profile, and immunotherapy markers. Through tissue biopsy, cytology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular testing, to facilitate pathologists in accurate diagnosis and personalised treatment strategies.
At Taylor’s Biomedical Science programme, students explore how laboratory science supports real-world patient care, from cancer classification to biomarker testing and targeted therapy insights.
Be part of the science behind better diagnosis, better treatment, and better outcomes.

Hantavirus Awareness | Taylor’s Biomedical Science
Public health begins with awareness.
Hantavirus can be transmitted through contact with infected rodent urine, droppings, or saliva. While infections are uncommon, they can become serious — especially when respiratory symptoms develop.
Knowing the signs and prevention steps matters:
●Avoid direct contact with rodents
●Ventilate enclosed spaces before cleaning
●Use gloves and protective gear when handling contaminated areas
●Seek medical attention if symptoms such as fever, fatigue, muscle aches, or shortness of breath occur
At Taylor’s Biomedical Science, we explore how infectious diseases affect communities and how biomedical knowledge can support prevention, research, and public health action.
From awareness to impact — biomedical science helps protect lives.

Our Alumni, Our Pride!
Introducing Ms Yong Sim Yee, a proud Taylor’s University alumnus from the Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Hons.) program, now pursuing Master in Cell, Gene and Novel Therapies at the University College London.
Sim Yee offers her uplifting advice to current students:
“Stay organised, but remember to enjoy the ride. It is easier said than done, but in a field as demanding as ours, time management is your greatest asset. It is about finding that disciplined balance between your academic goals and the personal growth that makes your university years memorable. These three years will pass much faster than you realise. Before you know it, it's your graduation, and you’ll look back wishing you could experience it all over again. So, stay curious and welcome every moment of this journey!”
Let’s celebrate our alumni who continue to make us proud and inspire future generations of Taylorians!
