20 August 2026 | The ICA Visiting Lecture Series 7/2026 was successfully held at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Pagoh Campus, featuring a distinguished international lecture by Dr. Agr. Sc. Neng Tanty Sofyana, S.Pi., M.Eng, from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran, Indonesia.

The session brought together participants to explore the theme "Bridging Marine Science and Biotechnology for Sustainable Bioinnovation: Academic Perspectives and Future Opportunities," shedding light on cutting-edge research and interdisciplinary approaches in the field.

Conducted in a hybrid format at Chlorophyll Seminar Room 1 and broadcasted live via Facebook ICA, the visiting lecture provided invaluable insights into marine biotechnology, blue economy advancements, and sustainable bioinnovation strategies.

20 Ogos 2026 I Pihak Innovation Centre In Agritechnology For Advanced Bioprocessing (ICA), UTM Pagoh berbesar hati menerima kunjungan deligasi pegawai Lembaga Perindustrian Nanas Malaysia (LPNM) dari Johor dan Selangor bagi lawatan tapak ke fasiliti penyelidikan dan pemprosesan di ICA.

Lawatan ini bertujuan untuk meninjau Unit Pengeringan Vakum (Vacuum Tray Dryer, VTD) di Makmal Teknologi Makanan ICA dan menyaksikan proses penghasilan produk nanas kering MD2 menggunakan teknologi VTD oleh usahawan di bawah seliaan LPNM Selangor.

Selain itu, delagasi turut dibawa melihat melawat Makmal Inkubator Halal dan Kolam Ternakan Ikan Air Kelah/Tilapia Merah yang ada di ICA. Lawatan ini turut menjadi platform untuk bertukar pandangan mengenai potensi aplikasi teknologi pengeringan makanan serta pembangunan inovasi produk nanas di Malaysia.

Sesi lawatan diakhiri dengan perbincangan susulan aspek penyelidikan, pemprosesan dan pengembangan produk berasaskan nanas bagi menyokong pembangunan usahawan serta industri nanas tempatan.

The Innovation Centre in Agritechnology for Advanced Bioprocessing (ICA), UTM Pagoh, successfully organised the โ€œPractical Approach to Antioxidant Assays Using ELISA Microplate Readerโ€ training on Wednesday, 5 August 2026.

The training commenced with a Safety Briefing delivered by Encik Shahwalludin bin Ghazali, Assistant Security Officer, UTM Pagoh, who highlighted essential safety practices and awareness. Through this briefing, participants were reminded of the importance of maintaining a safe and conducive environment throughout the training session.

Following the safety briefing, the training featured a theoretical session delivered by Assoc. Prof. ChM Dr Norazah Basar entitled โ€œIntroduction to Antioxidant Assays: DPPH and ABTS Applications in Food and Health Products.โ€ The session provided participants with valuable insights into antioxidant evaluation techniques while highlighting their applications in food and health-related product development.

Subsequently, the training continued with a hands-on practical session conducted by Tc. Salimah Ab Malik and Mrs. Hajar Aminah A Karim. During this session, participants gained practical exposure to sample preparation, DPPH and ABTS antioxidant assays, as well as result analysis and interpretation using an ELISA Microplate Reader.

Through this comprehensive training approach, participants enhanced their laboratory skills and strengthened their understanding of antioxidant analysis techniques for research and product development.

Overall, the successful organisation of this training demonstrated ICA UTM Pagoh Campus continuous commitment to advancing knowledge transfer, strengthening research capabilities, and enhancing technical competency through impactful initiatives.

This prestigious international program is a vibrant continuation of the active Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between our institutions, serving as a key activity that operationalizes our MoA and continually strengthens the bilateral ties between both entities.

As a major highlight of this collaboration, our ICA Director, Prof. Hesham El Enshasy, will be taking the global stage as a distinguished guest speaker. On August 3, 2026, he will deliver an insightful address entitled, "Recent Development of Probiotic Applications in Aquaculture".

This commitment to global knowledge exchange extends throughout our entire team. To maximize the impact of this partnership, three of our dedicated Research Officer and Assistant Research Officers ; Mr. Mohd Farid bin Ismail, Mr. Mohamad Azzuan bin Rosli and Mrs. Noorafizah binti Dzahir with specialized backgrounds in agriculture are also participating in the summer course. This hands-on engagement provides a valuable platform for our staff to connect with international peers, exchange industry best practices, and broaden their technical expertise.
