🎉 SAVE, SPEND & SHARE WITH JOII — THAT’S A WRAP! 💰💛

On 17 & 18 October, Little Tauke by Joyous had an amazing time at Atria Shopping Gallery, reaching 108 young money learners through our Save, Spend & Share with Joii money adventure, in collaboration with Eastspring Investments!

From eager hands shooting up to confident little voices sharing their thoughts, it was two days filled with curiosity, laughter and meaningful money conversations. 🥰

✨ What did our little taukes learn?
💰 Save — Set money aside for future goals.
🛍️ Spend — Make thoughtful choices about what we buy.
❤️ Share — Use money to care for others and make a difference.

Through interactive activities, games and hands-on learning, we helped children discover that money isn't just about buying things. It's also about making choices, building good habits and thinking about the future.

And of course, the best part? Seeing their excitement, participation and proud smiles as they celebrated their learning together! 🌟

A heartfelt thank you to Eastspring Investments for collaborating with us, Atria Shopping Gallery for hosting us, and all the parents and little taukes who made these two days so memorable.

At Little Tauke, we believe that raising money-smart children starts with small lessons today that build wiser decisions tomorrow.

Because when children learn to save, spend and share with purpose, they're not just learning about money — they're growing into thoughtful, responsible individuals. 🌱

Here's to raising the next generation of money-smart kids, one little lesson at a time!

When financial education starts showing up in everyday decisions. 💙

We love hearing that children enjoyed our workshops.

But what makes us even happier is when parents tell us they are seeing the lessons come alive at home.

After attending our camp, Eva and Ari didn’t just enjoy the activities and games. Their parent noticed something more meaningful:

✨ They started thinking more carefully about borrowing money
✨ They became more thoughtful about their choices
✨ They began practising gratitude
✨ They were able to rationalise and apply what they had learned

And yes… Ari was thrilled to win a prize, while Eva especially enjoyed the learning materials! 😊

This is what we hope financial education can become for children:

Not just something they learn.
But something they can use.

Because teaching children about money isn't only about numbers, saving or spending.

It’s about helping them develop the thinking, habits and values to make better decisions as they grow.

Thank you to this family for sharing your experience with us. ❤️

And yes… we're already looking forward to having Eva and Ari join us again! 😉

Ever wonder what your child thinks money is for? 💭

Most of us teach kids to save. Very important, yes. But at our workshop, we also let them try something different: giving.

Each child got a little heart card, and they learned that sharing with someone who needs it feels good too. No lecture, no worksheet-only lesson. Just kids doing, feeling and understanding for themselves. ❤️

Because financial literacy is not only about how to keep money. It's also about values: sharing, kindness, and knowing what really matters.

That's how we teach at Little Tauke. Kids aged 7-12 learn money by doing, hands-on.

Should children get pocket money simply because they’re children?

Or should some of it be connected to responsibility?

We believe there’s room for both.

A baseline allowance can give children the opportunity to practise managing money without making every ringgit a reward—or taking money away as punishment.

At the same time, parents can choose to connect additional money or privileges to age-appropriate responsibilities, helping children understand an important idea:

Money can be connected to responsibility, contribution and choices.

The goal isn’t to make children “earn” every cent.

It’s to help them understand that money is a tool and how they manage it matters.

So, where do you draw the line?

💬 Tell us below: Should pocket money be unconditional, responsibility-based, or a mix of both?

Kids are watching how we use money even when we think they’re not. 👀💰

The BNPL conversation isn’t just about what our teens might do in the future.

It starts with what they see us doing today.

When kids hear us say:

“Just put it on instalment.”

“I’ll pay for it later.”

“It’s only RM50 a month.”

They may not hear the full financial story behind the purchase.

They simply see a pattern:

Want something → buy it now → pay later.

That’s why financial education isn’t only about what we tell our children.

It’s also about what we model.

Before your next big purchase, try letting your child hear you think out loud:

💬 “We could buy this now, but let’s see if it fits our budget.”

💬 “We really want it, but we’re going to wait and save first.”

💬 “Let’s compare the options before we decide.”

These small moments show children that being money-smart isn’t about never spending.

It’s about thinking before spending.

Because kids copy what they see — not just what we say. ❤️

📌 Save this for the next time you’re making a spending decision in front of your child.

What does money learning actually look like?

Sometimes, it looks messy.

It looks like children talking over one another, debating their choices, changing their minds, drawing on huge sheets of paper, standing up to present their ideas and asking, “But why?”

And that's exactly what we want.

At Little Tauke, we believe financial literacy is not simply about teaching children words like saving, spending, needs and wants.

It's about giving them opportunities to think, make choices, experience consequences and reflect.

Because the real test of financial literacy isn't whether a child can repeat what they learned in class.

It's whether they can eventually pause before spending, recognise a need versus a want, plan ahead, save for something meaningful and think about others too.

The goal isn't just money knowledge.
It's money behaviour.

And sometimes, the best learning happens when children are busy doing.

You’re not a bad parent for saying no. ❤️

Sometimes, saying “no” to our children comes with a little guilt.

“No, we’re not buying that today.”

“No, you can’t have it just because your friend has one.”

“No, it’s not in our budget.”

But saying no doesn’t mean we’re depriving our children.

When we explain why we’re saying no, we’re giving them something much more valuable — the chance to understand how money decisions are made.

Because money-smart kids don’t need to get everything they ask for.

They need to learn how to pause, think, choose and understand trade-offs.

So tonight, instead of simply saying:

❌ “No, we’re not buying it.”

Try:

💬 “Not today. Let’s think about whether we really need it, want it, and whether it’s worth using our money for.”

That little conversation could become a big money lesson. 💰

What’s the hardest “no” you’ve had to give your child?

Sometimes, the biggest changes happen quietly. ❤️

A parent recently shared something that really stayed with us.

Since joining Little Tauke, she noticed changes in her child that went beyond simply “knowing about money.”

He became:

💰 More careful with spending
🔎 Better at identifying needs vs wants
🐷 More focused on saving
❤️ More willing to share and give
📝 More likely to plan instead of spending impulsively

And perhaps the most meaningful part?

He started participating in food donations and other charity activities too.

The parent described the experience as:

“Really thank you for the eye-opening experience for him.”

This is why we believe financial education should start early.

It isn't only about teaching children how to count money or save a few dollars.

It's about helping them develop habits, thinking skills and values that can grow with them.

Because the goal isn't to raise children who simply know more about money.

It's to raise children who make thoughtful choices with it.

❤️ Money habits start small.
The impact can last a lifetime.
