🎓 Pusat Pengajian Kejuruteraan Mekanik USM mengucapkan Selamat Datang kepada panel penilai Audit Akreditasi Penuh (FA) Program Akademik Ijazah Tinggi Mod Kerja Kursus "MSc Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Management". Program ini merupakan kerjasama PPKM bersama Pusat Pengajian Siswazah Perniagaan USM.

Strengthening Excellence Through Benchmarking | UTHM Visits USM School of Mechanical Engineering

The School of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), was delighted to welcome a delegation from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) for a benchmarking visit on 31 July 2026 (Friday).

The visit provided an excellent opportunity for both institutions to exchange ideas, experiences, and best practices in strengthening engineering education and academic excellence. Discussions focused on four key areas:
* Governance & Staff Management
* Academic Programmes
* Research & Innovation
* Laboratory Management

We sincerely thank the UTHM delegation for their visit and the meaningful discussions. We look forward to future collaborations that will create lasting value for both institutions and the broader engineering community.

Three USM Mechanical Engineering Students Earn Recognised CSWA Certification

The School of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), proudly congratulates three of our undergraduate students for successfully passing the Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) examination, an internationally recognised certification that validates fundamental competency in 3D CAD design using SolidWorks.

Our CSWA-certified students are:
🏅 PUVARASAAN A/L THANNIMALAI – 240/240 (Perfect Score)
🏅 NUR BALQIS HUSNA BINTI SAINI – 180/240
🏅 IYAD BIN KAMALDIN – 180/240

The CSWA examination covers five key engineering design competencies:
🔹 Drafting Competencies
🔹 Basic Part Creation and Modification
🔹 Intermediate Part Creation and Modification
🔹 Advanced Part Creation and Modification
🔹 Assembly Creation

Candidates are required to obtain a minimum passing score of 165 marks (~70%) to earn the certification, demonstrating their ability to apply engineering design principles and SolidWorks skills to solve practical design challenges.

This achievement reflects the dedication and perseverance of our students, as well as the School's commitment to producing graduates equipped with internationally recognised technical competencies. Professional certifications such as the CSWA enhance students' competitiveness and readiness for careers in mechanical design, product development, advanced manufacturing, and Industry 4.0.

Congratulations to all three students on this remarkable achievement. May this success inspire more USM engineering students to pursue professional certifications and continue striving for excellence.

Strengthening Industry-Academia Ties: Bosch Visits USM School of Mechanical Engineering

The School of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), recently welcomed representatives from Bosch to explore collaborative opportunities and discuss the alignment of engineering education with industry demands.

During the visit, the delegation was introduced to the School's hands-on teaching methodologies, with a special focus on the third-year Mechatronics course (EMC311). The representatives observed how the curriculum effectively bridges theoretical concepts with practical ex*****on, demonstrating how students apply C++ programming, control theory, and embedded hardware integration to engineer Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) for complex physical environments.

Following a tour of selected teaching and research laboratories, the engagement provided a valuable platform to exchange ideas on enhancing graduate preparedness. Discussions highlighted several avenues for future partnership, including industrial hardware sponsorships, expert guest lectures, and the potential pursuit of joint industrial grants to solve real-world manufacturing challenges.

We sincerely thank the Bosch delegation for their valuable time and look forward to fostering a collaboration that benefits both our students and the broader technological ecosystem.

👨🏽‍💼Ucapan Sambutan 25 Tahun Kampus Kejuruteraan USM 🎓

Dr. Boey Kok Hoong, graduan BEng. (Hons) Kejuruteraan Mekanik (2002), kohort pertama bergraduasi di Kampus Kejuruteraan Nibong Tebal.

Dr. Boey merupakan pengasas dan Pengarah Urusan Solid Precision Engineering Sdn. Bhd., sebuah syarikat tempatan yang berjaya dalam bidang pembuatan berketepatan tinggi yang beroperasi di Sungai Petani, Kedah. Beliau menunjukkan semangat pembelajaran sepanjang hayat dalam memajukan kerjaya kejuruteraan beliau sehinggalah memperolehi PhD baru-baru ini.

Di bawah kepimpinan beliau, syarikat Solid Precision Engineering (SPE) telah berkembang sebagai penyedia penyelesaian kejuruteraan bertaraf antarabangsa dan menerima pengiktirafan Enterprise 50 Malaysia 2022. Syarikat ini juga menyediakan peluang pekerjaan yang bermakna buat 150 orang warga tempatan.
