Our school was delighted to welcome Mr Jong, Manager of the Malaysian Red Crescent Miri Branch, for a ๐…๐ข๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐€๐ข๐ ๐“๐š๐ฅ๐ค attended by 143 Red Crescent members from both the Primary and Secondary Schools.

It was very engaging and interactive session. Our students listened attentively and asked thoughtful questions as Mr Jong shared the basics of first aid and explained the importance of staying calm during emergencies.

Apart from that, students also worked in pairs, and learn different bandaging techniques. The room was filled with smiles, laughter and encouraging words as they practised together. It was wonderful to see older and younger students learning side by side and supporting each other.

Many students shared how much they enjoyed the hands-on activities.

The SSK Red Crescent team proudly took part in this yearโ€™s Annual Parade, organised by the Malaysia Red Crescent (MRC) Miri Branch on 12 July 2026. Bringing together 22 contingents from schools across Miri, the event celebrated teamwork, service, and community spirit under the theme โ€œUnited in Humanity.โ€

For many students, it was their first experience at an event of this scale. Naira (Standard 4N) shared, โ€œI was nervous at first because I had never been to an event this big. But once the parade started, I felt much more confident. It was fun, and everyone was cheering each other on.โ€

A proud highlight came when SSK was announced as the winner of the Tin Collection Trophy and 2nd Runner-Up in the Marching Competition. These achievements reflected the teamโ€™s dedication, preparation, and many hours of practice.

Addison (Form 4K), President of the SSK Secondary Red Crescent Unit, said, โ€œEveryone played a part and gave their full commitment. Seeing everyone work together reminded me that helping others starts with supporting the people around us. This achievement belongs to the whole team.โ€

We are grateful to our parents, teachers, and Red Crescent advisers for their continued support and encouragement. Beyond the awards, the parade was a memorable experience that helped our students grow in confidence, strengthen friendships, and discover the true spirit of teamwork and service.

Through this meaningful initiative, our students and teachers worked together to support humanitarian services and community programmes that assist those in need.
