[RESEARCHER OF THE MONTH: August 2025]
Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Wong Yan Chiew is a researcher in microelectronics, machine learning, and energy-efficient systems, with over a decade of significant contributions in advanced circuit design and intelligent sensing technologies. Her research spans WiFi-based human activity recognition, neuromorphic computing, and RF energy harvesting, with over 100 scholarly publications in high-impact journals such as IEEE Access, IEEE Internet of Things, and IET Wireless Sensor Systems. She has successfully secured 27 research grants โ 8 as principal investigator and 19 as co-researcher โ amounting to more than RM1 million in funding from national and university sources. Her commitment to academic excellence is reflected in his supervision of 1 PhD student (GOT) and 8 MSc students, all of whom have graduated successfully. Dr. Wong has received 30 awards, including recognitions for product innovation, best paper, and best poster at both university and national levels. Her expertise is also sought after in the industry, having led over 10 consultancy projects and collaborated on research with major companies such as MIMOS, Nexperia, and Texas Instruments, focusing on AI analytics, anomaly detection, and integrated circuit design. Congratulations to Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Wong Yan Chiew on her contributions and achievements!

MAKMAL MiNE UTeM CIPTA SEJARAH, PERTAMA DI MALAYSIA TERIMA ANUGERAH MAKMAL BERTAULIAH CADENCE AS
Makmal Mikro dan Nano Elektronik (MiNE) Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) mencipta sejarah apabila menjadi makmal pertama di negara ini yang menerima penganugerahan Makmal Bertauliah Cadence untuk Pensijilan Rekabentuk Litar Bersepadu (IC DESIGN) dengan Teknologi Virtuoso daripada Cadence Amerika Syarikat, antara peneraju utama industri semikonduktor global.
Pencapaian ini meletakkan universiti berkenaan pada kedudukan pertama dalam negara dan sekali gus terus menyerlah di pentas teknologi semasa permintaan tinggi dunia.
Kejayaan itu juga mencerminkan UTeM sentiasa seiring dengan kemajuan teknologi semasa dunia terutamanya dalam konteks teknologi Virtuso dalam penyediaan perisian dan perkakasan untuk mereka bentuk litar bersepadu (IC), `system on chip' (SOC) dan papan litar bercetak.
Kejayaan melahirkan tiga Jurulatih Bertauliah Cadence daripada kalangan pensyarah UTeM juga membuktikan keupayaan universiti dalam membina kepakaran dalaman dan menyediakan fasiliti latihan berstandard industri melalui makmal MiNE di FTKEK.
Inisiatif ini turut mencerminkan komitmen UTeM dalam menyokong aspirasi Malaysia MADANI dengan memperkasa generasi muda melalui pendidikan berkualiti tinggi, berteraskan kemahiran, inovasi dan daya saing global demi masa depan negara yang lebih makmur dan berdaya tahan.
