The Faculty of Engineering and Technology is conducting another of its regular surveys of alumni. Please consider spending time on this survey; it is necessary to maintain the accreditation for the programmes of the faculty.
Please do know that although this might not seem to affect you (who already have graduated from the university), failure to maintain the accreditations can attract the attention of Education Ministry investigators. At worst, they can extend investigations to graduates of yesteryear (like you), because there is not enough documented evidence that the alumni are real.
(The documented evidence, of course, includes any responses that you would give to surveys like this one.)
That said, here is the link to the survey:

It has been two months into 2025, and it is not likely to have been a great experience for many of you (especially if your work involves import/export-related trading and manufacturing).
That said, if your workplace still emphasizes corporate social responsibility (CSR) and have related targets to meet, do consider giving a talk at your alma mater; such an activity may well count as CSR work in your organization.
If your workplace does not, do consider this anyway; there may be promising undergraduate students who could be potential recruits for your company.

FET is looking for Mechanical Engineering alumni to give a talk on their careers after graduation.
Anyone who is interested may contact Dr. Chan Wai Ti ([email protected]).

Many thanks to FET alumnus Mr. Yeoh Kian Hong, who agreed to provide a talk on his working experience.
If you know anyone who may be around or near the MMU Melaka campus during the time shown below, please inform them about this.

The faculty needs regular feedback from our alumni so that it can fulfill quality and performance measurement procedures.
Please kindly participate in this survey, and please share the following link

You may know already that engineering is more than just the application of science and technology; it is also about the people who are doing the application.
Thus, having people skills can be just as important as the technical and practical skills that you may have acquired.
For example, you will need these skills in training and instructing new employees in the ways of the company that you work in. Even with standardization such as the implementation of ISO practices, a company will have procedures that are unique to it; hence, there is the need to train new employees about these, even if they have prior working experience.
If you are a person that can glean much from watching instructional videos, consider having an account with LinkedIn's Learning if your organization has a budget for human resource development.

This is a repeat of an earlier message.
Again, if you have CSR (corporate social responsibility) and/or CPD (continuous professional development) goals that can be met by giving talks, do consider collaborating with your alma mater; MMU is always looking for alumni to talk to students about their careers after graduation.
In the case of Mechanical Engineering graduates, you can contact the following persons:

Geopolitical conflicts and tensions are not always great for everyone. However, there are still opportunities that can be had.
In particular, and of possible interest to those of you in Oil & Gas or supporting sectors (like shipping), India is undergoing an increase in refining capacity (likely due to increased availability of crude oil from Russia).
An example article about this is as follows:
India says future energy landscape will see growth in oil, gas and renewables
India will pursue a diversified energy strategy to meet exponential demand growth in the coming years that will witness a sharp rise in refining capacity, a big push toward exploration, and a shift to

You may have noticed that there has been renewed interest in renewable energy (pun not intended) around the world. Prior to the current era, renewables did not capture the interest of investors, mainly due to the high capital cost involved, the complexity of the facilities and fickle weather, among other issues.
However, with pivots by major economies (e.g. the European Union) due to reasons such as geopolitical ones, that is no longer the case. With backing from governments, renewable energy projects are expected to be much more likely to happen and persist.
In your case, you might want to consider where to look for opportunities for jobs in these projects, or where project offers would occur if you already have an engineering company; expect onshore wind turbine farms to be the trending renewable, since these are among the least complicated renewable projects.
Consider sources like official roadmaps and frameworks, such as the ones below:
https://renewablesroadmap.iclei.org/about-cities/
https://www.irena.org/How-we-work/Collaborative-frameworks
You may not be able to immediately obtain the contacts necessary for you to find opportunities or clinch deals on projects from such sources, but these are where you should start if you are not already getting tips from your networks.
Collaborative frameworks
As IRENA’s World Energy Transitions Outlook series highlights, energy transitions at the speed and scale necessary to meet global climate and development objectives requires unprecedent action and cooperation.

It has been a while since the previous post. Hopefully, you have been adjusting to post-pandemic situations.
That said, do consider the following announcement from Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) on an alternative method of tertiary education, APEL-Q, especially for postgraduate studies.

Furthermore, MMU is considering developing programmes based on APEL-Q. Do kindly partake in the survey below so that MMU can get the information needed to make a decision on this matter.
