LEARNER: Laoshi, I have a question. How do you say 'fasting' in Mandarin to a patient?
LAOSHI: Hmm, if you were to look up the dictionary, it states 'kōngfù = empty stomach' or 'jìnshí = prohibit food'...
But we don't really use them in kata harian lah... Well, I would say 'kōng = empty + dùzi = stomach' instead...
LEARNER: Haha, with the limited vocabs I have learned so far, I said 'bù chī bù hē' (tak makan tak minum) to the patient...
Dang~~ The patient immediately got me & she said 'Oh I understand doctor... bù kěyǐ chī, bù kěyǐ hē... (tak boleh makan, tak boleh minum)... I was happy that she got me!!
LAOSHI: OMG Visa, laoshi is so proud of you as you managed to apply what you have learned in such a simple way!! It's a great relief to see you progressing well!
** TIPS FOR BEGINNERS: Don't wait till you know ENOUGH... If you do that, you'll NEVER begin!😆💪💖
