Jeffery Lee to attend a talk by Distinguished Toastmaster Dina Santos from the Philippines at Ramada Hotel in Malacca, Malaysia. Impressed by the presentation, both Richard Ng and Jeffery Lee decided to start a Toastmasters Club in Malacca. Supported by a few other people including Sheila Wong, Tan Liam Seng, Thai Kian Tong, Raymond Khoo, Lucy Lim as the charter members, they started a Pro-temp me

eting at Sheila Wong's salon. Richard Ng was elected as the first Club President and the meetings were held regularly at Ramada Hotel. To ensure this newly born club has a strong base to grow, Dato' Lawrence Chan, a certified speaking professional and an experienced Toastmaster from Taman Indrahana Toastmasters Club in Kuala Lumpur, agreed to be the sponsor and mentor of Malacca Toastmasters Club. Other supporting members from Taman Indrahana Toastmasters Club were Alfred Chan and Dalwee Lee, who came down especially from Kuala Lumpur to attend the first few meetings. The Distinguished Club Program (DCP) is an annual program designed by Toastmasters International to help clubs promote and ensure quality and productive meetings, provide structure and guidance and increase enthusiasm of the club members. The program consists of 10 goals which a club should strive to achieve within one term, running from July 1 to June 30 of the following year. When a club achieves at least 9 goals, it is then awarded the President's Distinguished Club status. Since 2007, Malacca Toastmasters Club has achieved President's Distinguished Club status from Toastmasters International for 14 consecutive terms.

Joint Executive Committee Installation 2026–2027

The Malacca Toastmasters Club (MTC), together with Famosa Toastmasters Club and Melaka Bilingual Advanced Toastmasters Club, kicked off the 2026–2027 Joint Executive Committee Installation and Leadership Orientation.

It was a meaningful session for the newly elected office bearers to connect, learn, and begin their leadership journey together.
