We are pleased to invite all interested students to participate in the upcoming Top Coders 2026 Competition. This competition aims to provide students with a platform to challenge their programming, problem-solving, logical thinking, and coding skills in a competitive yet meaningful environment.

Through this competition, students will have the opportunity to test their coding abilities, improve their problem-solving confidence, and gain valuable experience in competitive programming.

All lecturers are kindly requested to encourage and share this announcement with students who may be interested, especially those who enjoy programming, algorithmic thinking, and coding challenges.

🌱 University Social Responsibility (USR) Activity | DIY Little Tech Makers for Kindergarteners 🌱

As part of our University Social Responsibility (USR) initiative, FIST successfully conducted the DIY Little Tech Makers for Kindergarteners workshop at Tadika Sri Setia on 9 June 2026.

The programme was led by four lecturers—Ms. Tan Sin Yin, Ms. Lim Liyen, Dr. Yap Hui Yen, and Dr. Tan Chun Fui—together with 10 students, providing kindergarten children aged 5–6 years with a fun, interactive, and screen-free introduction to Information Technology and STEM concepts through hands-on activities. From assembling simple electrical circuits to identifying computer hardware and creating IT-themed crafts, the children learned through creativity, exploration, and play.

This initiative reflects our commitment to giving back to the community by promoting early STEM education while encouraging meaningful, hands-on learning experiences for young children. It also provided our students with valuable opportunities to apply their knowledge, strengthen their communication skills, and cultivate a spirit of social responsibility.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Tadika Sri Setia, our lecturers, student volunteers, and everyone who contributed to the success of this meaningful USR programme. Together, we continue to inspire young minds and strengthen our partnership with the community through education.

Chinese Poem AI Workshop on 4 September 2026.

The Faculty of Information Science & Technology (FIST) is excited to hold Chinese Poem AI Workshop at MMU Melaka Campus on 4 September 2026. This interactive workshop is designed to introduce Chinese schoolchildren aged 9-15 to AI through Visualizing the beauty of traditional Chinese Poetry. Instead of simply reading poems, children will learn how AI can help transform
a classic poem into an engaging short animated video that consists of generated images, narration, and visual effects.

It also helps schoolchildren build essential skills such as AI Prompting skills, creativity, and digital content creation skills, which are important in today’s AI-driven world.

Upon completion of the workshop, each participant will receive a certificate of participation.

Registration will be closed on 29 August 2026.
