Parents, here’s something many people forget when helping children learn English: listening comes first. 👂🏻

Before children can confidently use new words and sentences, they need to hear English regularly. The more they listen, the more familiar they become with pronunciation, sentence patterns and the natural rhythm of the language.

You can make this very simple at home. Play a short English story during breakfast, watch a children’s programme in English, or listen to a simple song together. After that, ask a few easy questions such as, “Who was in the story?”, “What happened?”, or “What did you hear?”

You do not need to translate every single word. Let your child listen, understand the general meaning and slowly pick up new words from context.

Good English learning starts with good listening. 🎧
