Dear UNITARians,
ANNOUNCEMENT ON NEW SEMESTER UPDATES
In line with the Government’s extension of the Movement Control Order (MCO) period from 14 April 2020 to 28 April 2020, please be informed that UNITAR’s campuses will remain closed until 28 April 2020. The University Senate has deliberated at length on appropriate measures that are to be taken to ensure minimal disruption to our academic activities. Below are the key decisions that have been taken:
Adjustment of the UNITAR Academic Calendar
The UNITAR Academic Calendar 2020/2021 has been revised as below and you can view the timeline through the Student Portal in UNIEC Virtual:
On-line Teaching and Learning
For this April 2020 semester, from Week 1 to Week 7 [27 April 2020 to 21 June 2020], all our learning activities will be done remotely, or online, on UNIEC Virtual. In other words, there will be no learning taking place on Campus. Do watch out for our next emails to find out how this will be done. We will be providing easy-to-follow guidelines and guides to give you a good start on your studies this semester.
As we care about the safety of our campus community, we strongly advise you to stay at home during this period and have your academic studies done virtually. If the situation improves, you will be able to return to campus and resume your physical activities beginning Week 8 to Week 14 [22 June 2020 to 7 Aug 2020].
However, International students who are currently back in their home countries shall continue their studies online until the end of the semester. This decision was made taking into account the various international travel restrictions that may be put in place.
E-Add/Drop and Course Registration
If you have not done so by now, you are required to confirm your April semester courses before class begins. If you need to add or drop a course, please note that for this semester, the add/drop period begins on the 20th April 2020 and ends on 8 May (end of week 2). Although the add/drop period ends on 8 May, you are strongly advised to add/drop your courses by the 27th of April. You can perform your course registration and add/drop of course(s) online, via UNIEC CAMPUS.
If you encounter any problems navigating through the system, please email your faculty co-ordinator/executive, or One Stop Centre at [email protected] for further assistance.

Dear students,
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF UNIVERSITY & POSTPONEMENT OF APRIL SEMESTER COMMENCEMENT
The outbreak of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) has evolved rapidly since being detected in Wuhan, in the Hubei Province of China in December 2019. It has continued to pose a significant health threat to the general public and has now evolved to become a public health emergency of international concern.
In view of the announcement made by the Government of Malaysia regarding the temporary closure of higher education institutions due to the Covid-19 outbreak, please be informed that UNITAR International University will be closed from the 18th of March to the 31st of March 2020. As a result, the management of UNITAR has decided to postpone the commencement of the April semester from 6th of April 2020 to the 27th of April 2020. However, the special examinations will commence from the 11th to the 12th of April 2020.
Outstation students who have completed their examinations are strongly advised to return to their respective hometowns. We understand that logistical barriers, including airport shutdowns, may affect travel arrangements, resulting in some students having to remain in the Klang Valley. For those who are affected by this, we wish to assure you that appropriate measures will be put in place to ensure your well-being.
Please take note that:
Students living in our campus accommodation will be provided the necessities required, including cooking facilities. Please be in touch with your warden should you require any assistance.
Outstation students living in Klang Valley will be able contact our staff members at any time should you require any assistance.
Although the campus may be closed, our staff are operating on a ‘work from home’ mode. As such, staff members remain contactable via email and phone. There will be no breakdown in communication during this period.
Students who demonstrate any Covid-like symptoms are required to visit the nearest Klinik Kesihatan. For students living in the hostel, you are required to inform your warden. For students living in your own accommodation, you are required to inform Student Services.
Regular updates will be sent to you via email. Do log on to your student email to keep yourself informed on the latest developments in campus.
We regret the inconvenience caused by the temporary closure and the decision to postpone the semester commencement, but it was a decision we had to take, given the current scenario we are faced with. We wish to remind you to stay safe during this period by practicing personal hygiene and observing the prohibition of movement and mass assembly, as set by the government.
