🌕 中元节｜不只是“鬼节”

农历七月十五，是华人传统的中元节，民间也常称为“鬼节”。

很多人听到“鬼节”，可能会觉得神秘甚至害怕 👻。
但对华人来说，中元节背后其实有着更深的文化意义。

👨‍👩‍👧 缅怀祖先
我们祭拜祖先，表达对已故亲人的思念、感恩与敬意。

👻 尊重“好兄弟”
传统习俗相信，农历七月期间，游魂会来到人间。因此，人们会准备食物、香火和供品，并以“好兄弟”来尊称这些没有家人祭拜的孤魂。

🍚 普渡众生
“普渡”代表分享与慈悲，希望那些没有人祭拜的孤魂，也能够得到一份食物与祝福。

所以，中元节不只是关于“鬼”。

🌕 Zhong Yuan Festival｜More Than Just a “Ghost Festival”

The 15th day of the 7th lunar month is known as Zhong Yuan Festival, a traditional Chinese festival often referred to as the “Ghost Festival”.

When people hear “Ghost Festival”, they may think of something mysterious or frightening. 👻
But for Chinese communities, Zhong Yuan Festival carries a much deeper cultural meaning.

👨‍👩‍👧 REMEMBERING OUR ANCESTORS
Families honour their ancestors and remember loved ones who have passed away with love, gratitude and respect.

👻 RESPECTING THE “GOOD BROTHERS”
According to traditional beliefs, wandering spirits may return to the human world during the 7th lunar month. Families prepare food, incense and offerings, and respectfully refer to these wandering spirits as “Good Brothers” (好兄弟) — especially those who have no family to remember them.

🍚 PU DU｜OFFERING & COMPASSION
“Pu Du” represents sharing food and blessings with wandering spirits, reflecting the belief that no one should be forgotten.

So, Zhong Yuan Festival is not simply about ghosts.
