古晋老街故事馆 Kuching Bazaar Gallery

1953年，一组送殡队伍途经牙达街。这条街出现在20世纪初，街头处早年有一条牙达河，因发展的需要而被填平。如今，牙达街上其中两排老店，也因发展智能轨道快运系统（ART）而被拆除。

In 1953, a funeral procession passed through Gartak Street. This street first appeared in the early 20th century. At its head once flowed Sungai Gartak, which was later filled in to make way for development. Today, two rows of old shophouses along Gartak Street have also been demolished to facilitate the development of the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) system.

新年新气象，古晋老街故事馆也正式开放，欢迎光临！

古晋老街故事馆是我们对社区的献礼，从河流贸易开始，讲述古晋开埠历史以及 #古晋老街 的由来，并且重点分享老街生活的点点滴滴。

故事馆位在花香街门牌9号二楼，与华族历史文物馆仅咫尺之遥。如果华族历史文物馆呈现的是砂拉越华人的大历史，古晋老街故事馆则侧重提供社区的小故事。

古晋老街作为砂拉越历史最悠久的社区之一，可以说的故事太多。故事馆的设立，如今只是第一阶段，日后还有第二阶段的提升。

有意参观古晋老街故事馆，欢迎直接到场，先在底楼登记，就可以到二楼参观。目前 #入场免费，欢迎大家呼朋唤友来看看老街的故事！

With the arrival of the New Year comes a fresh beginning—the Kuching Bazaar Gallery is now officially open. We warmly welcome you to visit!

The Kuching Bazaar Gallery is our gift to the community. Beginning with the era of river trade, it traces the founding of Kuching and the origins of , with a special focus on the everyday stories and lived experiences of the Bazaar community.

The Gallery is located on the first floor of No. 9, Wayang Street, just a stone’s throw away from the Chinese History Museum. While the Chinese History Museum presents the broader history of the Chinese community in Sarawak, the Kuching Bazaar Gallery highlights the smaller, more intimate stories of the neighbourhood.

As one of the oldest communities in Sarawak, Kuching Bazaar has countless stories to tell. The establishment of the Gallery marks only the first phase, with further enhancements planned for the second phase in the future.

If you wish to visit, simply walk in and register at the ground floor before proceeding upstairs. Admission is currently free. Do bring your family and friends to explore the stories of the Kuching Bazaar!

古晋老街故事馆是我们长期来的梦想，这次终于付诸实现。

我们没有寻求对外赞助，仅在 #古晋文化导览团 内部集资，以有限的资源，完成了故事馆的规划和改造。

作为民间故事馆，我们希望这个结合人文学堂的空间是亲民而且接地气的。我们也希望老街的故事，可以让更多不同背景的人看到和感受到。

感谢在促成故事馆的过程中，那些曾经帮助我们、为我们努力过的所有人。谢谢你们！

The Kuching Bazaar Gallery has been our long-cherished dream, and this time it has finally been brought into reality.

We did not seek external sponsorship. Instead, we raised funds internally within the Kuching Heritage Walk Team, and with limited resources, completed the planning, renovation, and transformation of the Gallery.

As a grassroots, community-run gallery, we hope this space—integrated with a humanities learning hub—will be approachable, welcoming, and grounded in everyday life. More importantly, we wish for the stories of the Bazaar to be seen and felt by people from many different backgrounds.

古晋老街故事馆这个线上平台，始于2016年，转眼就过去10年。由于属义务性质，期间断断续续经营，近年处于停顿状态。

迈入2026年，我们终于从虚拟的线上平台，跨足到实体世界，在古晋老街最热闹的地方，拥有了自己的一方小空间，为大家说说古晋老街的故事。

在农历新年以后，实体故事馆就会正式开放，详情欢迎留意本版。同时，本版也将恢复不定期分享古晋老照片的惯例，希望大家邀请大家来 follow 我们。

在继续说古晋老街故事之前，先分享我们“变身”的故事，以回顾的方式让你看看我们的实体馆如何一步步成形。

The Kuching Bazaar Gallery began as an online platform in 2016. In the blink of an eye, ten years have passed. As it was run on a voluntary basis, operations were intermittent over the years, and in recent times the platform had been largely dormant.

Entering 2026, we are finally stepping out from the virtual world into a physical space. In the heart of Kuching Bazaar’s busiest area, we now have a small corner of our own from which to share the stories of Kuching Bazaar with everyone.

After the Lunar New Year, the physical Gallery will officially open. Please stay tuned to this page for further details. At the same time, this page will also resume the practice of sharing old photographs of Kuching from time to time, and we warmly invite you to follow us and spread the word.

Before we continue telling the stories of Kuching Bazaar, let us first share the story of our own “transformation”—a retrospective look at how our physical museum has gradually taken shape.

#古晋老街故事馆

尖山位在石角地区，早年因一座尖顶小山而得名。1960年代，这座尖山（Stapok Hill）开始了采石活动，到1970年以洪清河石场有限公司的名义继续运营。如今，采石活动早已停歇，尖山也不复见，留下一个偌大的矿湖，以及“尖山”这个地名。

1946年，在石山的对面创办了一所华小，就地命名为“尖山中华公学”。1986年，尖山中华公学的新篮球场落成，老师们带着该校的球员们，欢天喜地的在新球场合照留影。照片的后方，正是后来消失的尖山，其时采石活动正如火如荼进行中。

1954年8月30日，总督艾贝尔爵士亲临位在朋尼逊路13哩的麻风病院出席活动，并颁发出院证明书给其中一位康复者。这家麻风病院以第二代白人拉者查尔斯布洛克命名，缘于第三代拉者梵纳以纪念已故查尔斯（1829-1917）的名义，在1924年向民间募款得7万6千元，用以在旧法庭前方建了一座查尔斯纪念碑，以及这家麻风病院。

电报是老旧的通讯方式，现在或许已经没有人使用。早在18世纪，欧洲的科学家就逐渐发现电的各种特质，并着手研究用电传递讯息。到了19世纪初30年代，英国和美国开始有了电报服务，并在20世纪初让这个通讯技术横越海洋迈向世界。早年，人们通过邮政局收发电报，图为古晋邮政总局邮务部工作人员收发电报的情形。电报也类似今日的电邮，必须申请注册一个电报挂号（cable address），从一份老特刊的广告可以看到商家在广告中标明本身的电报挂号。

根据统计，二战后至1960年代初，是肺痨在本区肆虐的高峰期，人人闻肺痨而丧胆。砂拉越防痨协会（Anti Tuberculosis Association of Sarawak，简称ATAS）在1951年宣告成立，协助政府打击肺痨病。在政府和民间的支持下，砂拉越防痨协会也在古晋回教堂路（Jalan Masjid）建了一所诊所。诊所是由当时著名的绘测师陈何遵负责设计，乃一方形双层建筑。1953年，诊所建筑竣工后，举办了一项简单隆重的落成礼，恭请当时的殖民地总督安东尼艾贝尔爵士主持，在场的还有一些高官显要和巨贾富商。根据时任协会主席怀特（D.C.White）在落成礼上的讲话，有关诊所的捐款来自私人、公司行号、会馆组织、俱乐部等，而最主要的捐助人则是闽籍殷商黄庆昌。也因此，怀特宣布将诊所命名为“黄庆昌诊所”（Wee Kheng Chiang Clinic）。

大石路曾经有一座占地50英亩的庄园，名为巴都吉央农庄（Batu Kinyang Farm），是王长水家族的产业。这是一座综合性农庄，从事畜牧与种植活动；农庄中还有一栋洋房，王家经常在这里举办宴会和派对，招呼亲戚和朋友。这座当年规模数一数二的农庄，曾经被《砂拉越公报》誉为“砂拉越农场典范”，吸引了不少人前去参观，其中包括1924年甫成立的农业部，经常将农庄作为农业官考察和实习的地点，而农业部的办事处也设在农庄隔邻。1950年，王长水辞世后，农庄的地产分配给各房子孙，并逐渐脱售作为商业发展用途；农庄里的王家墓园，后来也迁往他处。当年巴都吉央农庄的地段，如今已经成了高级住宅区和商业区。图为有关庄园里的养鹿场。
