On 3 August 2026, UNIMAS and HMI Medical formalised an important collaboration through the exchange of documents at the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony.

This partnership aims to create greater opportunities for our students through scholarships, sponsorships and recruitment pathways, providing them with a better study experience at UNIMAS and a clearer pathway towards employment and career opportunities after graduation.

Upskilling Malaysian Healthcare for Empathy and Communication through Virtual Reality (UM-HEART-VR)

The Co-creation Workshop held on the 7 September 2026 (Monday), is a collaborative process of building immersive VR educational content by bringing together a total of 36 educators, learners, instructional designers and software developers, who design, script and build virtual environments to enhance empathy and communication training among medical and nursing students tailored to the Malaysian setting.

UNIMAS Beyond Borders: International Observership Program at China Medical University Hospital & China Medical University

We are pleased to announce that a delegation from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) has arrived in Taichung, Taiwan, for the UNIMAS Beyond Borders International Observership Program. Led by Mr. Ibi Gibreson anak Manggie (Registered Nurse / Clinical Instructor), the 5 delegates are participating in an immersive Clinical & Observer Fellowship in Smart Multidisciplinary Healthcare and Cancer Care from September 7 to September 26, 2026.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by China Medical University Hospital (CMUH) and China Medical University (CMU). The team includes representatives from both clinical education and hospital services:

Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS):
1. Mr. Ibi Gibreson anak Manggie – Team Lead (Registered Nurse / Clinical Instructor)
2. Mdm. Debbie anak Bohan (Registered Nurse / Clinical Instructor)
3. Mdm. Ng Poh Pheng (Medical Laboratory Technologist)
4. Mr. Nor Azman bin Haini (Senior Administrative Assistant)

Hospital Pengajar UNIMAS (HPU):
5. Mdm. Florence anak Venster Ehol @ Ehol (Occupational Therapist)

Over the course of three weeks, this observership program will focus on exchanging clinical expertise, exploring innovations in smart healthcare, and advancing multidisciplinary approaches to cancer care.

We wish our delegates a highly productive and successful fellowship in Taiwan as they work toward strengthening global academic and clinical partnerships.

Upskilling Malaysian Healthcare for Empathy and Communication through Virtual Reality (UM-HEART-VR)

The Train-the-Trainers Workshop happened on 10-11 September 2026 (Thursday - Friday), involves creating audiovisual resources, including VR demos and interactive tools among 24 Malaysian educators, technical and administrative staff. These resources will be integrated into the curriculum for ongoing learning and adaptation in both European and Malaysian partners.
