It is jointly owned by Swinburne University of Technology Australia and the Sarawak Government through Yayasan Sarawak (Sarawak Foundation) & Sarawak Higher Education Foundation. The Sarawak campus is only a short distance to major commercial centres, food courts & public transport. Situated at a prime location about 15 minutes from the heart of Kuching, the 16.5-acre campus currently has a student population of more than 4,000. The university expects to have 5,000 students in the next five years. The campus was expanded in 2008 & comprises several new buildings that are custom-designed for the Faculty of Engineering, Computing & Science, Faculty of Business & Design and Faculty of Language & Communication. New facilities also include a research centre for sustainable technologies, lecture theatre, library & multi-purpose hall as well as two blocks of fully furnished four-storey hostels on and off campus which can house more than 1,000 students.

AND JUST LIKE THAT… IT’S A WRAP FOR O-WEEK! 🐝⟡˚ ݁⋆˖₊. 𓂃

What a week it has been! We got to know our newest Swinbees at the Campus & Faculty Connect, had a blast at and , and of course, enjoyed plenty of free food, games, karaoke and !

For some of our Swinbees, this week also marked the beginning of life away from home — settling into a new space, meeting new people and slowly finding their feet in a new environment.

We’re especially happy to welcome our students under the Free Tertiary Education Scheme (FTES) as they begin this exciting new chapter with us at Swinburne Sarawak.

We hope you’ve made new friends, found your way around campus and created plenty of memories along the way.

A strong showing from Swinburne Sarawak’s debate team at the Premier of Sarawak Debate Challenge (PSDC) 2026! 👏🏼

It was a fantastic run for both Swinburne Sarawak teams, who advanced to the semi finals, with one team going on to claim the Runner Up title after a closely contested final against UiTM Sarawak.

Guided by Debaters’ Club Advisor Dr Christina Yin, the team showcased strong critical thinking, communication and teamwork throughout the competition, proving that debate can be both competitive and genuinely enjoyable.

Bridging cultures and building friendships! A memorable visit with Suito Kokusai Junior and Senior High School 🌏🌸

As part of the Kuching–Osaka Student Exchange Programme 2026, organised by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in collaboration with the Sarawak State Education Department (JPN Sarawak) and sponsored by the Osaka Gas Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, Swinburne Sarawak was thrilled to welcome students and teachers from Suito Kokusai Junior and Senior High School, Osaka, Japan.

Taking place from 21 to 28 August 2026, the programme brings together students and teachers from Sarawak and Osaka to promote international cultural exchange, strengthen people-to-people connections and create meaningful cross-cultural learning experiences.

During their visit, our guests explored campus life and connected with the Swinburne community. Starting at Lobby A, the delegation was welcomed with an opening address by Mr Mohamad Safaree bin Sapuan, before joining an engaging sharing session hosted by Dr Muhammad Rafiq Mirza Julaihi and the Swinburne Anime and Manga Society (SAMS), celebrating shared interests and the creative side of student life.

The visit wrapped up with a campus tour, with stops at the Library, The Junction, Borneo Atrium, Multipurpose Hall and Student Hub, giving our guests a glimpse into the spaces where our students learn, connect and spend time together.
