ISITI was pleased to host a courtesy visit and engagement session with the CEO of UNIMAS Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (UHSB), En. Syahrizan Junaini, together with the Business Development Manager, En. Mohd Hazman Othman.

The session provided an opportunity to strengthen engagement, enhance collaboration, and foster an informal exchange of ideas between UHSB and the ISITI team.

We look forward to building stronger partnerships and exploring future collaborative opportunities.

Empowering Educators Through STEM & TRIZ Level 1 Workshop

The Centre for Social Innovation (CSI), under the Institute of Social Informatics and Technological Innovations (ISITI), continues to play an active role in promoting the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) as a structured approach to encourage innovation and creative problem-solving across organisations.

CSI had the opportunity to collaborate with the Biro Perkhidmatan Pendidikan, Majlis Islam Sarawak (MIS), in organising the Bengkel Latihan Fasilitator Modul STEM dan TRIZ Tahap 1. The two-day workshop was held from 25–26 April 2026 at Raia Hotel, Kuching, with the participation of 28 teachers from various primary and secondary schools, as well as 8 staff members from MIS.

The workshop aimed to introduce the STEM PBK BPP-MIS module, provide participants with knowledge of the fundamental concepts and tools of TRIZ, and strengthen their ability to identify and solve both technical and non-technical challenges using TRIZ methods in STEM learning.

The sessions were led by Associate Professor Dr. Halikul Lenando and his team, who delivered engaging training by connecting TRIZ concepts with STEM practices through interactive activities and hands-on exercises. This approach created an active learning environment and enhanced participants’ understanding of practical problem-solving techniques.

Upon completion of the workshop, all participants successfully completed the Level 1 Certification Assessment.

A TRIZ Level 1 Certification

A TRIZ Level 1 Certification Workshop was successfully conducted on 16–17 April 2026 at the Microsoft Lab, FCSIT, UNIMAS.

The workshop was facilitated by Associate Professor Dr Halikul Lenando and Professor Dr Tan Chong Eng, introducing participants to TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) and structured innovation tools for systematic problem-solving.

A total of 14 participants from various faculties and centres took part, gaining hands-on experience in TRIZ concepts such as Ideality, Function Analysis, Cause and Effect Chain Analysis, Trimming, Engineering Contradiction, Contradiction Matrix, and the 40 Inventive Principles. All participants successfully completed the Level 1 certification assessment.

This workshop strengthens innovation capacity and promotes analytical thinking within UNIMAS.

Innovation got a boost at UNIMAS 🚀

Over two dynamic days, staff from across faculties came together at FCSIT’s Microsoft Lab to dive into TRIZ Level 1 Certification training. From Ideality to the 40 Inventive Principles, participants explored powerful tools to tackle problems with structure, clarity, and creativity.

With hands-on activities and cross-disciplinary collaboration, the workshop didn’t just teach innovation, it activated it. 💡

Benchmarking Visit at ISITI, UNIMAS

The Institute of Social Informatics and Technological Innovations (ISITI), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), welcomed a benchmarking visit from the Institute of Tourism Research and Innovation (ITRI) on 26 February 2026.

The visit served as a constructive platform for institutional engagement, focusing on the exchange of experiences and best practices in postgraduate programme management, research and administrative processes, as well as the planning and coordination of institutional activities and events.

ISITI appreciates the meaningful discussions and collaborative spirit demonstrated throughout the session and looks forward to strengthening inter-institute collaboration within UNIMAS.
